Types of wallpapering

The way the wallpaper is pasted depends on your initial choice. The difference is in the layout of the material, applying the adhesive on the cloth or on the vertical surface( priming the walls before wallpapering) and directly in the method of gluing - butt or overlap. Choosing options for pasting wallpaper, pay attention to their thickness, the overlap of modern materials looks unaesthetic. And to ensure that the joints are not conspicuous, professional tricks are envisaged, which we will talk about in the future.

In addition, there have always been and still are popular wallpaper with a picture that require adjustment, which is fraught with uneconomical material consumption and difficulties for the beginner. But there is nothing we can not do!

We draw your attention, it is better to do the described work together, especially if this happens for the first time.

Tools for pasting wallpapers

For high-quality performance of the task in hand, we will need the following: wallpapering

  • sharp scissors and clerical knife,
  • tape measure, straight long( meter) ruler and plumb line,
  • comfortable brush or roller for application of adhesive on the surface,
  • rubber spatula or roller for non-woven wallpaper,
  • rags.

For measuring work, experts recommend using the same tape measure! And also remember that you need to measure the walls in several places, otherwise, in the middle of the room you may encounter an unexpected shortage of the length of the cut piece!

Before starting work, it is recommended to remove skirting boards, socket covers and switches. And if possible, then the clypeus of the doorway.

The technology of wallpapering with your own hands

  1. To the exact height of the wall in the place where it is planned to arrange the first cloth, add 2 cm and cut off the desired piece from the roll. If you have already ascertained that the height of the walls in the room is the same everywhere, boldly cut the panels at the rate of gluing one wall. In another case, it is necessary to prepare the material taking into account the varying height of the room.

The cut pieces, except the last, are piled up( upside down the base) with a shift of each piece by 1-2 cm relative to each other so as not to blot the front side with glue. Under the bottom sheet is recommended to put paper. The last( corner) cut will most likely require a fit, so it is laid aside, because it's easier to cut a dry material than impregnated with a clover.

  1. If you bought paper wallpaper - to apply glue both on the inner surface of the panel, and the place with which it will be in contact. In this case, it is only possible to apply the adhesive to the cut if the wall is preliminarily primed. And put it best with a brush or brush, evenly spreading from the center of the cloth to the edges( first distant from yourself, then - near).

For flizeline wallpaper you need to carefully cover the wall. It is better to do this twice - for the first time as a primer, and the second one just before gluing each cloth. Whichever type of material you choose, all the nuances and subtleties of obtaining a qualitative result will prompt the recommendations of the instruction. So, some types of wallpaper require additional time for impregnation, then after applying the glue they are doubled or an accordion.

  1. Sticky finishing of the finishing material requires increased attention and hardness of the hand. To make things easier for themselves, experts recommend that the vertical lines-borders-be cut off with a plumb line, strictly in accordance with the width of the sheet. And carry out gluing the next sheet exactly on the bounding line. And for better adhesion of the edge of the panel with the wall, it is profusely to spread the patches with the indicated composition or pre-paste special strips of paper.

But if such a method seems too complicated for you, or if thinner paper wallpapers have been chosen, you can also apply a lap sticking-the last five to ten millimeters in the previous strip. In this case, you need to pay attention to the choice of direction. To ensure that the joints are not visible, you need to start the work from the window to the entrance. Although the same direction should be chosen in the second way.

The wallpaper sheet, impregnated with glue or dry, is first applied to the wall at the top and aligned along a vertical line - the border. Then, using special rubber rollers and spatulas or clean rags, smooth the surface in a direction from the center to the edges, in order to ensure better adhesion to the wall and remove air bubbles. Surplus of glue is cleaned with a dry clean rag. And protruding at the bottom or at the top of the edge of the panel cut with a sharp knife and ruler.

Wallpaper gluing in the corners requires special art. Here it is not recommended to leave large overlaps, so cut the whole panel so that the second wall does not go more than 3-5 cm, and from the corner begin to stick whole strips.

I also want to pay attention to caution when working with outlets and switches. It is best during the gluing of these places to de-energize the room.

  1. After finishing work, the material should dry in a draft-free room. When you were sure that everything went well, and the next morning the wallpaper remains a smooth vertical layer on the walls, you can install skirting boards, cornices, door frames, sockets and switches.

Now you just have to admire the result and boast before acquaintances and relatives with new skills.
