design of the walkway Before you build a garden path, you need to carefully design it, as well as locate and mark up. It is desirable to plan garden paths taking into account buildings, including those whose construction is planned together with the project of the future house. Then you will have the opportunity to plan the parts of the plot: garden, patio and outbuildings. The main task of the garden path is to be comfortable and bear the benefits, and only then to give the beauty to the site. When building country cottages you need to observe the style of the site.
The main stylistic directions of dacha tracks
Classical - a direction in which different plants and shapes are combined. All this in combination gives a unique effect. This style is characterized by a variety of flora and architectural elements. This direction is mainly used in the parks of cities and botanical gardens.
Landscaping - in this direction the paths are combined with the natural landscape. Its design connects different plants and forms. Also for him are the erection of alpine slides, the creation of artificial reservoirs and the construction of arbors, bridges, swings.
Materials for construction
Longevity - is one of the main qualities of the dacha track. Before construction, you must select the material.
The most common are:
- tile
- natural stone
- brick
- concrete
- cut wood
- gravel
Path from natural stone: step by step instruction
We will consider the construction of a garden path made of natural stone. This path is suitable for lovers of natural species. And then you have a choice: to acquire special stones or do everything yourself, using wild stones. But no matter what you do, this path will be pretty well combined with plants and lawn on the site. There are three ways to lay a path of wild stone:
- with sand base,
- with concrete foundation
- highly artistic way.
But first you need to mark out the territory.
Step 1. Marking of the territory
Clear the place for the path from the weeds, stones and roots, then drive the pegs and pull a thick line or thread. Such a layout will simplify the subsequent work on laying.
Step 2. Preparation for laying the stone path
Now, at the location of the track, the soil is digged to a depth of 5 to 16 cm. Crushed stone and slag are poured into the pit, and then they are well rammed.
Step 3 Laying the track of wild stone
First method: on a sandy basis
This laying method does not use concrete, but the substrate is made of sand. Pre-selected or purchased stones are densely installed on compacted sand and fixed with cement. Plates need to be slightly pressed into the sand with the help of a kayak. The cement solution is not difficult at all, but you need to stick to the proportion( 1 part of cement, 3 parts of sand and quite a lot of water), since you will have to pour the solution between the stones. Try to make sure that the seams are at the same level with the plates, use a spatula for this.
The second way: on a concrete basis
If you need a durable and strong track, then this method should be used. For the construction of such a dacha track, the concrete solution must be laid in a layer of 10-17 cm above the sand layer. Immediately after pouring concrete we lay natural stones. Then fill in the seams as well as in the first method. Once the concrete has solidified, the path can be considered ready.
Highly artistic way
This method requires less material costs. Tracks of this type look natural and quite stylish. When building such a garden path, you will need not only building skills, but also a sense of artistic taste. As material, you should take large natural stones in the form of slabs.
We lay them on the ground and mark the contours, and after removing them and marking out a hole of depth equal to the thickness of the stone. Then we cover a layer of sand, and then put the plates in place. There are several styling layouts. The most common are:
- chain,
- broken line,
- regular straight
But whatever you choose, this track will make a huge impression on your guests.
