Everything is exactly as in the pharmacy

Calculation of cement for screed is made in kilograms per one cubic meter of solution( also you can count on cubic meter of sand).The exact number, in many respects, depends on the brand of material. Screed in apartments and houses is most often done using the brands M150 and M200.To determine the exact number, you need to make calculations of the screed. For example, we will calculate the required number of all materials for the screed:

  • We make a fill with a thickness of 5 centimeters and an area of 40 square meters.
  • Consider: 40 m2 x 0.05 = 2.0 cubic meters of the mixture. Sand and cement go in a ratio of about one to three. From this it turns out that a minimum of 1.5 cubic meters of sand and 0.5 cubic meters of cement is necessary.

However, consider the fact that the mixture loses its volume during cooking. This is due to the fact that the small parts of the fill fill the void in the mixture. Therefore, from 1 meter of a cubic dry mix it will turn out about 0.7 cubic meters of concrete mass. Consider the difference in volume loss and use a larger amount of dry mix.

Note! Sand for the preparation of mortar for screed should be with fine grain.

What and where to use?

Before starting the preparation of the mortar, you should determine which cement is better for the screed. Many manufacturers on packages write, for what purposes the given mark of production will approach more, but the general recommendations nevertheless are. First, you need to take into account the passability. So, the screed for the apartment and the hospital corridor will be completely different, since in the apartment the floor is not subjected to such heavy loads as in the hospital. Secondly, the material that will be applied to the concrete is taken into account. For example, if the final coating is ceramic granite, then the cement must be of superior quality.

Note! When choosing a grade of screed material, we recommend consulting with a specialist.

For leveling floors in houses and apartments, the best option is to use the M200 brand. Mixing occurs in a proportion of one to four, that is, part of the cement and 4 parts of sand. The layer of such a screed is made 3 cm thick. It dries 2-3 days. In public places it is better to use M300 cement. It mixes in the same proportions as the M200, but it dries 4 days.

Each brand of cement for screed, in addition to cement and sand, needs rock dust. Mixing proportions are standard: 1: 4: 4( 4 parts of sand and rock dust per part of the cement).The thickness of the layer of such a solution should be at least four centimeters. The mixture dries in three to four days. This is the ideal solution if the floor is to be faced with ceramic granite.

The process of pouring the floor

If you figured out what kind of mortar is needed and how much cement you need for the screed, it's time to fill it. It is not difficult to make it independently, you just need to adhere to the technology of work:

  • The floor is cleaned of debris, and the upper points of the screed are marked;
  • Beacons are installed, in their quality may be light rails;
  • In order for the solution to harden, it adds gypsum;
  • After installation of beacons, the installation of intermediate elements begins;

Important! To make the correct installation of intermediate elements, a nylon thread is used, which is stretched between the base profiles.

  • The solution is mixed;
  • The pre-wetted surface is filled with a mixture. Pour is recommended in the space limited to two lighthouses;
  • After pouring the floor is covered with a film for 12 hours for aging;
  • After that, the entire surface is wiped with wooden floats;
  • Beacons are removed and strips from them are overwritten.
