Advantages of toughened glass

The main advantage of "Kalenka" is safety. It manifests itself in the properties of its destruction. Small fragments are not dangerous to humans even when falling from high altitudes, unlike shards of simple glass. Its bending and impact strength is 6 times greater than that of the heated material. Also a big plus of such glasses is the high resistance to temperature changes, up to 2000 ° C, which is unacceptable for other types of glasses.

The conductivity of the light of this material is also higher than that of others, which makes it possible to make the lighting natural and visually expand the room, add space to it. The thickness of such a product is 10 millimeters, it can withstand heavy loads. Also, it is not afraid of light, moisture and ultraviolet radiation. It is also important to ease the care of such material.

Note! Due to the ability to make any steel fittings, you can install a wide variety of doors.

Areas of application

With such high quality, tempered glass can be used in a wide variety of applications. There are practically no restrictions and prohibitions. The main directions of its application:

  • Structural glazing of facades;
  • Production of glass floors, canopies, railings of stairs and balconies;
  • Shower cabins;
  • Interior doors;
  • Manufacture of glass furniture and interior items;Partition walls of tempered glass.

According to regulatory documents, such glass is mandatory used in all types of transport: trucks and cars, trolleybuses, trams, road and agricultural machinery, trains, ships of the sea and river fleet.

In facade design, bent tempered glass is actively used, which allows you to make smooth curves in any style. It is also often used in the manufacture of furniture, trade and refrigeration equipment and other products. Recently, in our country, frameless balcony partitions, partitions for offices and tempered glass matte for the kitchen have become popular.

Important! For safety reasons, experts recommend that you install doors only with tempered glass.

Is it possible to process and cut material?

The cutting of toughened glass is almost impossible, just like its processing. At attempts it is broken. This is due to the fact that the material that has been quenched has an uncombed layer on the edge that compensates for the compression stress. When cutting this layer, the material can split from a weak impact or even spontaneously break at any time.

That is, the main reason is not the accuracy and complexity of the cutting, but that the glass is unable to remain intact if it is cut. The material presented is not amenable to processing, cutting or re-hardening.

The following cutting methods are not possible:

  • Sandblasting;
  • Hydraulic;
  • Laser;
  • Diamond cutter.

Regarding frosted glass, it allows only to grind the edges. However, this can only be done with a material thinner than 10 millimeters, since a large thickness has a greater degree of stress, which can not withstand the treatment. It is necessary only in cases when the edge remains bare or poorly processed.

Tip! To avoid additional processing, it is necessary to calculate the required dimensions of the workpiece in millimeters beforehand.
