Screed with expanded clay:
features Claydite itself is a clay firing product at sufficiently high temperatures. This is a very light and durable material, environmentally friendly, with a high level of sound and heat insulation. The screed with expanded clay is stronger than the screed made of sand and cement, it easily passes air. It is unusually resistant to heat and frost, does not burn and does not rot.
The floor clay, depending on the fraction of crushing, is divided into the following types: crushed stone, gravel and sand. Each fraction has its own field of application and is characterized by different parameters, the main difference between them is the grain size.
The leveling of the floor with expanded clay is beneficial in cases of sharp differences in its foundation in height, when the use of expensive building materials is economically impractical or simply impossible.
In the construction practice, it is not uncommon for a floor to be filled with claydite piled on the bottom of the basement, it is the only way to raise the coating to the required level, not exceeding the maximum permissible overlap load.
However, it should be borne in mind that the consumption of claydite on the screed is determined not only by its thickness, but also by the fractionation of the claydite itself. As the fraction decreases, the consumption of expanded clay increases and, accordingly, the load on the overlap increases.
It is extremely undesirable to cover with claydite moist and damp floors, as it absorbs moisture well and at the same time loses its useful properties. And now, after the above remarks of a general nature, let us turn to the question of how to make a screed with expanded clay with our own hands.
Preparatory work - tool and marking
For those who want to understand clearly how the floor screed with expanded clay is performed, the video clips will provide detailed information. And for the work we need: sand, cement, expanded clay, water. From tools: laser or water level.
With the help of the level on the walls of all rooms where the screed is made, zero marks are displayed at the same level. By connecting them together by a solid line, we get a zero level. The next step is to measure distances at several points from the zero level to the bottom of the floor. The smallest distance corresponds to the highest point, and the largest - to the lowest point.
After this you can start installing pendulums. Begin to do this from the highest point, setting the pendulum on the rack level to a thick solution. All pendulums are exposed at a distance equal to the length of the rail, with which the solution will be leveled.

And now you can start the screed. This is done in two layers. For the lower layer, claydite is mixed with the solution, for which it is poured into a large container, filled with water and mixed. Then a mixture of cement and sand is added and thoroughly mixed again.
The exact proportions are difficult to determine, but as a result, a uniform thick mixture should be obtained, and the expanded clay will turn gray and shiny. The resulting mixture is filled over the entire length of the room with a strip of 70 cm wide and is leveled with the calculation so that to the floor level along the entire length there is 25 mm.
On top of the first layer, without waiting for it to dry, a second one, which is a solution of sand and cement, is applied. Already unnecessary beacons are removed, and the holes are carefully sealed. Then, in the same way, the second strip of the lower layer is applied to the first, and above it the second strip of the upper layer.
Alignment of the top layer is done very carefully, the formation of pits, bubbles, depressions, etc. is unacceptable. A special rule can help make leveling more carefully and, most importantly, convenient. After work, it will be necessary to wait until the entire structure has solidified and solidifies.
