Carrying out the attic insulation in a private house with your own hands

It is quite easy to make the attic insulation in private houses with your own hands, and for this purpose there is no need to resort to the services of professional builders.

Not many people know that it is the roof of a private house that is one of the main places through which heat leaves the interior space.

As you know, warm air has the property to rise to the top, and if you do not perform a thorough warming of the attic space, even with regular use of various heating devices, the heat in the house will not stay for long.

To date, there are many effective ways that allow you to warm yourself even a cold loft.

There are materials that are used as internal insulation of the ceiling, while its design becomes attractive and original.

Many different ways to lay a heater in the interior of the attic.

Which of the best ways to use - the owner of the house decides, and in any case, the insulation must be done correctly and prevent the penetration of cold air into the interior space of the house.

For more details about the warmth of the attic space, see the video below.

Features of attic insulation

The warming and arrangement of the attic space was made by our ancestors.

Many years ago people already knew that the main heat losses occur through the ceiling, and therefore they invented a variety of tricks that allowed creating a comfortable temperature regime in the interior of the house.

It should be noted that in any case, the proper ventilation of the attic in a private house is of great importance, which allows to regulate the temperature in the interior if necessary.

In addition, in the winter season as a heater can act even snow.

The attic insulation scheme

In a private house, you should provide free access to the attic with a ladder in order to be able to ventilate it at any time.

It is also necessary to insulate the exit from the attic and all windows and openings through which cold air is possible.

Arrangement of the attic space, as well as its proper insulation, can be made by hand.

To choose a heater for the floor of the loft follows from the material of the floors.

When they are made of wooden blocks, on top of which the floorboards are laid as a floor, you can use either various loose materials or rolls with slabs.

For concrete floors, the choice of insulation is reduced only to the slab materials.

As a last resort, it is allowed to use heavy bulk heaters, but only if a strong cement screed is made on top of them.

Also when choosing a heater for the cold floor of the attic, you must pay attention to the thermal insulation properties of the selected material, as well as the ease of its installation.

Important role played by the environmental properties of the insulation, as well as its cost.

Some types of materials that can be used to insulate the attic space can be seen in the photo below.

Usage of backfill materials

Use as a heater for the attic of all kinds of backfill materials, was practiced by our ancestors.

This method is considered the most optimal in the case where the attic space and floor overlap are made entirely of wood.

It is enough simply to fill the insulation between all the lags and in winter a comfortable temperature regime in the house will be provided. So, as the main material, you can take flax.

To begin with, it is necessary to thoroughly repair all the cracks, including near the stairs. To do this, it is best to use ordinary clay.

Next, the entire surface of the floor is correctly laid kraft paper, on top of which the corresponding layer is laid down by the flax itself. In the photo there is a linen insulation.

Natural insulation

Of course, the design of this attic will not be very attractive, but the heat is provided.

The same way you can lay the fire with your own hands, but you will need to provide ventilation of the attic in order to ensure the exit of the established air and the influx of fresh air.

You can build the cold attic with your own hands using straw. To do this, initially all the cracks, including near the stairs, are covered with ordinary clay.

After that, the whole surface of the floor should be spilled with a thin layer of sand and hydrated lime mixed with carbide, and only then the sawdust is laid, as shown in the photo below.

Heater of sawdust

For better fire safety, sawdust is better than pre-treated with special flame retardants.

You can replace the sawdust with straw, which is stacked in exactly the same way as shown in the photo below.

Among the modern insulation materials that are suitable for the attic insulation, it is possible to allocate ecowool, expanded clay and fiberglass.

They are stacked by analogy with the above materials. The whole attic room is filled, including near the stairs, as can be seen in the photo below.

The use of backfill materials, of course, will not make the design of the attic more attractive, but it will help to keep heat in the interior of the house in the winter season.

More details on how to insulate the attic room can be seen on the video below.

Use of roll materials

The use of various roll materials as a heater allows not only to protect the house from the cold, but also to create an attractive design in the attic room.

These materials are easy to handle with their own hands, their arrangement does not take much time, except for this, the design of the attic space will be different for better than using backfilling heaters.

Laying such material is necessary throughout the area of the attic, including near the stairs, as correctly as possible, following the generally accepted technology.

Most often as a heater use mineral wool, which does not rot and is not afraid of rodents.

In addition, it has a rather attractive design, as can be seen from the photo below.

Also fill the loft space, including near the stairs, with seaweed, as well as linen roll insulation.

It is often enough for concrete slabs to use a plate heater and special insulation mats.

This modern insulation allows not only to effectively protect the interior of the house from the cold, but also makes the design of the attic more attractive.

The slab insulation is laid on the entire surface of the leveled floor, including near the stairs, and all joints between the slabs are tightly sealed with a mounting foam.

As a plate heater you can use foam plastic, as well as slabs made from reeds.

To the question of the attic insulation should be approached with full responsibility, because only in this way it is possible to provide a comfortable temperature regime in the interior of the house during the winter season.
