The house is excellent for temporary residence for the period of construction of a full-fledged house. But even after the completion of basic construction works, the cabins will not remain out of work. It can be equipped for a budget cottage, a place for storing various equipment, work clothes, bicycles and other household items.

Self-assembly by yourself

Custom-made self-assembly

Ready-made cabins are relatively inexpensive. But why spend money, if such a construction can be built on its own, buying only the necessary materials and tools? We offer you instructions on how to arrange a cabins of wood, finished trailers and metal profiles. Choose your favorite option and get to work.

The cabins are a secondary utility room, but do not treat the process of erection and arrangement too lightly.

First, prepare the drawing. You can make it yourself or find a ready-made version in accessible sources. The drawing will allow you to imagine how the finished building will fit into the surrounding landscape, as well as calculate the required amount of building materials.

The dimensions of the structure and its layout should be selected at your discretion. Typically, industrial designs intended for living have a length of about 5-6 m, a height of about 2.5 m and a similar width. In the rest with respect to the dimensions of the house and its layout, be guided by your needs and preferences.

We choose a place for erection of the cabins

Country house from the shed

Summer cottage from the cabins

When choosing a place for our house we take into account a couple of important points.

First, we think whether we will be transporting the structure somewhere in the future. For example, you are going to build an easy house for a couple of seasons, and then take it to another place. If the move is included in your plans, it is best to place the cabins as close as possible to the exit from the site.

Secondly, we are determined with the purpose of the premises. If the cabin is used only as a shed for storing various tools and other household items, it is best to install it approximately in the center of the long side of the main house so that it can easily be reached from either side of the site.

The cabins can serve as a storage place for the inventory

Helpful advice! If you do not exclude that in the future the cabins will be converted to a bathhouse, build it in a remote secluded corner of the site, remembering the rules of fire safety.

Making the base

The foundation will be the same for all three cabins. The only exception would be a finished caravan on wheels - for him the foundation can not be built.

Foundation

Foundation

Foundation

We make the basis as follows:

  • get rid of the top fertile soil layer;
  • we compact the bottom and walls of the pit;
  • we cover the pit with geotextile;
  • we pour a layer of sand over geotextile and carefully compact it;
  • symmetrically arrange the slag blocks on the received cushion;
  • wrap each support with a layer of roofing material.

Important! If you plan to attach a small porch to the cabins, consider installing supports for it at the same stage.

We connect the opposite sides of the bar. For this, we fasten the logs with the bar of the lower strapping. You can connect in any suitable way. Well-proven connections using the spike-groove method, using metal corners and anchors. We have previously made selections for connecting the elements and additionally strengthened the places of fastenings with nails.

We mount vertical angular and intermediate racks. Intermediate supports set with a meter step. For this we use a bar with a cross section of 15x15 mm. Do not forget to leave an opening for the door. For a reliable connection of the frame elements we use metal corners and screws. At the same stage we establish support pillars for the future porch, if its presence is provided by the construction of the cabins.

Variants for securing vertical racks

Important! The height of vertical supports on the rear and front sides of the cabins should differ by approximately 50 cm. Such a difference will ensure an optimal roof slope and do not retain atmospheric precipitation.

We mount the bar of the upper strapping. The support racks of our cabins have different heights, so we work as follows: first we lay the beam along the tops of higher supports, after we connect the low pillars and install perpendicular to them lateral crossbars. Connections are performed according to the already familiar method with samples and nails.

As a result, our skeleton will be divided into a series of rectangular sections. To strengthen the structure, we connect the opposite lower and upper corner of each such section with jagged boards.

We fix the rafters to the upper roof crate. We use the most equal boards, so that in the future it would be easier to make a crate. The rafters are mounted with a step of the order of 500-600 mm. We pay special attention to the strength of joints on the roofing beams.

The material for the finish of the roofing is chosen at our discretion. For example, a good ondulin. It is laid with an overlap, starting from the bottom of the ramp. Before laying the ondulin, you should put a solid crate of boards and attach a waterproofing film over them. Instead of ondulin, you can use slate or other material of your choice.

Do not want to mess around with the assembly of the frame and other related activities? You can buy a ready-made trailer and equip it for a cabins. Such trailers do not even need their own foundation - you just need to carefully level the platform and install the container( trailer).

If you are equipping a used trailer for a cab, carefully study its condition. Peel off the traces of rust, replace the severely damaged elements of the skin with similar ones, weld onto the through holes of the patch, cover the metal with a special primer and paint.

The installed construction is necessarily insulated. The rest of the arrangement remains at the discretion of the owner. These points will be discussed separately below.

You can also buy a caravan on wheels. The option is mobile and very easy to use. After completing all arrangements for the arrangement of such a trailer, it is installed on the frame from the trailer.

We build a shed from metal profile

Accommodation

Sheds

Construction of skeleton from the metal profile will require a lot of effort in comparison with the construction of a wooden analog. But the iron cabins will last longer.

The tool kit includes:

  • hammer;
  • welding machine;
  • drill;
  • screwdrivers;
  • corner;
  • bulgarian;
  • brushes;
  • construction stapler;
  • measuring tape;
  • hacksaw.

We also buy the following materials:

  • profiled pipe with dimensions of 2х2 cm, 4х2 cm, 4х4 cm and 4х6 cm;
  • mounting rail 2x4 cm;
  • sheet galvanized steel;
  • corrugated board;
  • metal primer;
  • screws for fixing corrugated board;
  • self-tapping screws for metal;
  • staples for the construction stapler;
  • rivets;
  • OSB-plates;
  • mounting foam.

We make the base

We will build the base of the frame from a pipe 4x6 cm in size. We cut the pipes according to the dimensions of the erecting structure.

We weld the pipes according to external dimensions and get a rectangular edging. In total we need to make 2 such identical rectangles. From one we will make the floor, from the other the upper part of the cabins.

To ensure that the floor is reliable, create a grid of the same profiled pipes inside the rectangle. We make a cabins width of 250 cm. With such dimensions, it is enough to weld 2-3 longitudinal pipes inside the rim for the entire length. Transverse pipes are welded every 50 cm.

Floor for the shed

Floor for the cabins

Next, we take the galvanized sheet and fix it with screws to the base of our cabins. Turn the base and lay it with a galvanized sheet down on the supports from the cinder block or simply aligned area. To the cinder block the construction can and is not fastened - the shed will be adequately kept by its own weight.

Vertical supports are made from a pipe 4x4 cm. We cut it into pieces in accordance with the planned height of the cabins. Usually it is equal to 250 cm.

The first supports are exposed in the corners of the base built at the previous stage. We check that the angle at the junction of the pillars with the base is strictly straight.

The aligned stand is fixed by welding. In the same way we expose the racks for the remaining corners.

Additionally we will need to install intermediate racks. To do this without violating the geometry of the structure, we take a second rectangular base of pipes made in the previous stage and lay it on the tops of the corner posts.

We weld the obtained "cube" with intermediate struts and spacers. First, we take pieces of proftruby 4x4 cm along the height of the structure and vertically weld them between the lower and upper base. The recommended installation step is 100 cm. At the same stage, we provide an opening for the door.

We weld the horizontal cross-bar along the circle of the supporting structure. The pipe must be welded to vertical posts at a height equal to half the height of the cabins.

Spacers are made from a profiled pipe 2x4 cm. We cut it into 30-centimeter pieces. Each edge of the workpiece is cut to a 45-degree angle. We weld all the corners of the structure with the resulting struts. Additionally, we can scrape the floor with them.

We make the roof

Frame for roofing

The frame for the roof

We made the bottom part of the frame and the wall. Further we are engaged in manufacturing of a "skeleton" of a roof.

Farms are made in the form of isosceles triangles. We use a pipe 2x4 cm. The recommended step for the installation of trusses is 1 m. We weld them along the length of the frame. The roof is covered with a profiled sheet. If you want, you can use other material of your choice.

All metal elements of the frame are covered with a special primer, and after it is dried, we apply the paint of the desired color.

Arrangement of the cabins

We install windows and doors( it is better to buy them in finished form).It is desirable that the windows have a swinging structure and there were not less than two of them - you do not have to spend time installing additional ventilation. We proceed to further arrangement of our cabins.

Making the floor

First we construct a rough floor from boards treated with an antiseptic. We spread them as tightly as possible to one another and attach them to the frame with screws.

Finishing floor boards

Finishing floor boards

Over the boards we spread the waterproofing film. We fix it to the logs with the help of a construction stapler with staples.

We nail to the base additional lags for laying the thermal insulation and fixing the second layer of boards. We fix the logs with a step equal to the width of the selected thermal insulation material. To insulate the floor, mineral wool is a good choice - a relatively inexpensive and time-tested thermal insulation material.

We lay the heater in the space between the lags. From above fix the layer of vapor barrier material. In this we again help stapler with staples.

We lay boards of a finishing floor. We fix them to the logs with the help of self-tapping screws. Finally, we cover the floor with varnish or paint.

We provide the external cladding

film. Attachment of the external cladding

The cabins can be left without the cladding, but the construction of wood or metal will require obligatory external finishing. Do not we just leave the "bare" frame?

We tighten the frame with a waterproofing film. We carefully glue the joints of waterproofing strips with adhesive tape. For external wall covering there are many different materials:

  • wooden boards;
  • composite panels;
  • siding, etc.

Choose at your discretion. Also very beautiful look cabins, sheathed block house.

Over the frame, we stuff cross strips to fix the insulation. To the same rails attach the selected material of the inner skin. Most often for interior decoration is used lining. Otherwise, be guided by your preferences and the available budget.

Electricity

Electricity in the shed

We will not pull the full wiring into the cabins. Such structures are not capital and do not need such equipment. But how in this case to organize at least lighting and heating? This will help us a good extension cord with a cord of suitable length. We plug it into the nearest available source of electricity and pull it into the shed.

In the shed we can include a tee in this extension for more convenience and the possibility of using several electrical appliances at the same time.

Lighting

We equip ourselves at our discretion. In general, for the cabins will be enough for a few simple lamps installed in the main functional areas.

Lighting in the shed

Water supply

For maximum convenience of operation of the cabins we carry out water. We will not make a capital expensive water supply. It is enough to connect a flexible hose to the water supply source, enter it into the shed through a pre-prepared hole in the wall and equip it with a tap to shut off the water.

A compact water heater can be installed next to the hose attachment point. Special liquid models are available on the market. It is enough to remove the top cover from such a tank, fill the tank with water from the hose, turn on the heating unit in the socket, and in the shortest time use warm water at your discretion. If desired, a water hose with a shower head is easily connected to this water heater.

Will not be superfluous in the cabins and a compact sink. We fix it to the wall in a convenient place. To drain the sink we connect the corrugation for draining the water. We remove the corrugation through a pre-arranged hole in the floor and connect it to the sewage pipe. Through the sewer pipe, water will flow into the drain pit or other designated place.

In the end, we will only have to furnish the premises. In this moment, we focus entirely on our preferences and needs.
