Variety of drainage pipe material

The use of a drainage system eliminates the problem of damaging the foundation of the building with sediment that accumulates in its area. Its pipes protect the house from various damages associated with the possible formation of mold, manifestations of high humidity, prevents the formation of ice on the tracks, the flooding of cellars, as well as the decay of the root system of garden plants.

Pipes are:

  • ceramic, another name is pottery;
  • asbestos cement;
  • plastic( polyethylene, polymer, polyvinyl chloride).

Pottery and asbestos cement pipes have significant weight, which requires additional costs for their transportation and installation. In addition, the cuts in them are applied just before the installation, which significantly extends this process.

Propyled holes allow for a large amount of sand and dirt, which contributes to the rapid silting of such pipes and the failure of the entire system, and the washing of such a system is quite laborious. They also have a relatively short period of active operation.

plastic pipes for drainage have a corrugated structure that allows ground load to be evenly distributed throughout the pipe surface. Thanks to this, this pipe retains its strength and reliability for a long time. Polymeric drains have a low weight, which greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of transportation and installation. Trimming is performed with an ordinary hacksaw.

Types of filters

Drains come without a filter, in a filter of geotextile, in a coconut coil. Pipes without a filter have standard water holes( 1.3 mm), which are located in the cavities of the wave and are thus protected from ingress of various debris. These pipes are laid to a depth of 3.5 m. The standard length is 50 m, and the diameter is from 50 to 200 mm.

The drainage in the geotextile filter has the same characteristics as the previous pipe, but the use of the geomembrane makes it possible to additionally protect it from penetration of the smallest soil particles. The tube in the coconut winding from the previous two differs only in the use of coconut fibers in the form of a filtration material.

In order to determine which drain is needed for you, you need to know what kind of soil is on the site. If the probability of siltation of the drainage system is negligible, then pipes without a filter can be used. If the siltation of the system can occur, then it is advisable to use pipes with a filter coating.

The filter from the geopolitics is appropriate in sandy loamy, sandy as well as peaty soils. Coconut fiber is used for clays and loam.

Drainage pipe structure and operating rules

Perforated drainage pipe can have a single-layer or two-layer structure. In a single-layered version, the corrugated surface is repeated also inside the pipe, in a two-layer - the inner surface is smooth. Experts advise to use two-layer drains, becausea smooth surface is less silted, and the subsequent cleaning of such a system is greatly facilitated and simplified.

The drainage is laid to a depth of 1.5 to 3.5 meters. The sides and bottom of the trench are carefully tamped and leveled by the GPS before installation. In addition, it is necessary to comply and mandatory deviation of the drain. It is at a rate of 2 mm per running meter of the pipe. In practice, this indicator is somewhat higher, about 4-5 mm.

It is also necessary to install a manhole over the entire length of the drainage system. All collected water accumulates in the water intake well, which is located at the lowest point of the site. The collected water can be diverted to the sewer system or used for household needs.
