There are many ways to heat pipes. External means of electric heating of sewerage system
There are two types of external heating structures: film and cable.
The film type of electrically heated drain pipes is the most common. First of all, this is due to the low cost of these materials, as well as ease of installation. Also, the heating film affects the entire area, heating all its points simultaneously.
The cable outdoor heating system is an electrical cable that wraps the tubular product. If necessary, the heating element is turned on, it heats up and thus melts the ice plugs in the sewer pipe.
Several types of electrical heating cables are used:
- Self-regulating. The most convenient heating element. This type of insulation is able to automatically react to the temperature of the air or pipes, and, if necessary, independently adjust the heating. The temperature can be different in different parts of the drainage system. This type of product is possible and as a heating cable for sewage inside the pipe, but it will be discussed later in the article.
- Resistive. This type of heating cord, when activated, maintains an equally high temperature throughout the length of the product. In this case, it may burn out, therefore, along the cable, it is necessary to install sensors and temperature controllers to avoid overheating and failure.
- Zone. This type of heating cable, unlike the resistive one, is not located along the entire length of the sewage system, but only in its individual sections.
Specification of mounting of external heating cord
There are several features that should be adhered to when laying an external heating cable:
- Installation of equipment should be done exclusively along the pipe. So it will be possible to avoid mistakes in the structure of the heating system.
- It is absolutely forbidden to cross the cable in various places of the sewerage drainage system. Contact of parts of the cord with each other can lead to short circuit and burnout.
- When laying the heating element, it is necessary to take into account dead-end and bypass lines.
Subject to these rules, the likelihood of product breakage is much reduced.
It is worthwhile to pay close attention to the choice of heating cable. After all, work is done in the presence of electricity. The slightest damage or misuse can lead to electrification of the pipe along its entire length. Therefore, it is worth to carefully select the manufacturer, as well as follow all the rules described in the instructions.
Internal heating systems for sewerage systems
In addition to the outside, a heating cable for sewerage inside the pipe is often used. To install this type of product requires a preliminary installation of the tee, through which the heating cord is inserted into the sewer system. Direct contact with frozen elements allows you to quickly eliminate ice plugs. However, there is a large number of disadvantages of this type of heating system:
- The reliability of the pipeline is significantly reduced due to the introduction of a tee into its system.
- Finding the cable inside the pipe fittings significantly increases the risk of various blockages by solid elements, which are abundantly found in the wastewater.
- The diameter of the pipe fittings significantly decreases, which reduces its efficiency.
- If the system of sewerage communications has a large number of turns and bends, then the complexity of laying the internal heating cord considerably increases.
It is worth making a choice between a large number of disadvantages and the fact that the heating cable for sewage inside the pipe is a very effective tool in the fight against ice cork inside the sewer network.
