Connecting the outlet from the switch: is this possible?
Before you begin the presentation of the main part of the article, it is worth giving an answer to two fundamental questions on this topic: "Can I make a socket from the switch?", And "Can I make a socket out of the switch?".The answer to the first question is "yes."By manipulation, which will be further described in the course of the article, you can take the wiring from the switch and connect an outlet to it. The answer to the second question is "No".It is not possible to change the switch in the socket, because they have different specific features.
How to remove the
outlet from the switch Before proceeding with the installation of the socket from the switch, it is worth recalling that the manipulations with the wiring in the living room can only be carried out with completely disconnected electricity in the entire apartment.
For this type of work you will need the following tools and materials:
- pliers with rubber grip;
- rubber gloves;
- indicator screwdriver;
- Rubber lining under the feet( if the work at their own risk and are under stress);
- wire of the required cross-section and configuration;
- outlet.
Step 1. Preparation of the switch for connecting the
wire The keypad and protection cover are removed from the switch. Further, in order to ensure the convenience of future work, it is necessary to leave 60 mm of wire that leaves the switch.
Step 2. Removing the switch box from the
socket To do this, unscrew the screws that hold the grips of the plates, and gently pull the breaker housing out of the socket.
Step 3. Location of the socket of the
socket It is necessary to choose the place for the outlet itself. Its height above the floor should be at least one meter. Also, the socket of its housing must be at least one and a half meters away from any heating devices and systems.
Step 4. Process of mounting the
device First, a wall plate is installed on the wall. Then, its contacts are exposed and connected to the contacts of the disconnected switch using a pre-prepared wire. The cover is closed with bolts, and the body of the outlet is screwed to it. The wiring resulting from the work is fixed to the wall at a height of at least 30 cm from the floor. Our outlet is ready.
