Ventilation for a gas column, its types and basic characteristics

When buying a hood for a gas boiler, you should familiarize yourself with the basic standards. Standard pipes are produced with a diameter of 11cm and 13cm. Channels with a smaller diameter are needed to connect to a column with a single tap point and can withstand a power of not more than 19 kW.

Pipes with a large diameter, connect to columns that have two or more water points. They are used for devices whose power is more than 21kW.

You can install the hood, with a turn of 90 degrees. To do this, use a special knee, but it should be understood that such designs significantly reduce traction.

When installing ventilation for a gas column, it is best to use corrugated pipes. Their cost is relatively low, they are mobile and reliable. As already mentioned above, their standard diameter is 11 and 13 centimeters. The construction consists of a multilayer aluminum foil, covered with special lamination. Inside the steel wire is mounted, which allows you to create a ventilation shape and the right direction. Their main advantage is stretching. The corrugated pipe can be stretched to 3 meters. In extreme cases, if you need to build up the duct, you can use a special metallic tape. In addition, this chimney is resistant to the harmful effects of condensate and is very easy to install, thanks to its low weight.

Steel ventilation for gas boiler is covered with white heat-resistant enamel. Its size can reach one and a half meters. It is also possible to mount such a pipe at an angle of 90 degrees, when the room has a horizontal section, the length of which is calculated on the basis of the degree of optimum traction. In contrast to corrugated chimneys, the formation of abundant condensate is observed in steel because of large temperature fluctuations. In this regard, for the winter you need to store a heater for the pipe, in order to avoid icing.

Coaxial ventilation for the gas columns is gaining in popularity. With their help, the air enters not from the room, but from the street. Inside this pipe( for air supply), the second( for exhaust gas discharge) is installed. The incoming air from the outside is heated by the inner tube, and that, in turn, is cooled. All this has a positive effect on the performance of the gas column. Note that when installing such a hood, you need to make a slope three degrees closer to the ground, so that the gas column does not fall various precipitations.

In principle, a lot to talk about the installation itself is not worth it, everything is relatively simple.

  1. Find an acceptable place for the chimney( if the house already has a boiler or a fireplace with a finished hood, it is more reasonable to bring a new chimney exactly to it).
  2. Calculate the required parameters suitable for the combustion products output.
  3. Determine the drawing diameter, based on the gas boiler power data, the number of treated gases withdrawn from the pipe at a given power, the difference in inlet air temperature and the exhaust gas, and the height of the chimney itself.
  4. Calculate the ventilation height, taking into account the type of gas equipment.
  5. Make a hole where the hood will pass and insert an asbestos tube, the diameter of which should be more than 12cm.
  6. Install the hood at least one meter higher from the roof surface( this will ensure good traction).

And of course, do not forget about the rules of SNIP.According to them, ventilation is installed inside or outside the room, on walls or partitions, which are insulated with a special incombustible material. In the case where such a wall is absent, a saddle or root pipe is installed.

Ventilation for gas columns

Remember that there must be separate ventilation for each individual heater. The exception can only be if two heaters are installed on the same floor of the room, with no more than two appliances connected to one chimney.

Also, it is allowed to connect two gas columns to one hood, provided that the smoke waste emanating from the devices will enter the ventilation at different levels and will be located at a distance of more than 75 cm from each other.
