Types of screens
When selecting decorative screens for radiators, you should consider the types of these elements. There are two types:
- those that are installed flush with the wall - this is a lattice.
- additional screens - boxes. They close the battery from two or all sides.
Lattices installed in one level with the wall, look more aesthetic, but this option is often put in the office. They are used if the battery is completely pushed into the wall niche. The disadvantage of this type of installation is that it leads to a loss of the heat efficiency of the battery. At the same time, any screen will reduce heat dissipation by another 5%.
Attached views are installed close to the wall. They happen:
- closing the top part of the battery;
- closing the side of the radiator;
- covering the top, side and front surfaces of the battery.
Materials for the manufacture of curtain screens for heating radiators
Manufacture of such decorative elements made of metal, plastic, natural wood and MDF.Each of these materials has its advantages.
- Metal is manufactured in the form of gratings with different structure of cells. There are also screens in the form of separate bars and panels. Stain in different colors. Metal types are characterized by high strength and good telo-yield.
- Glass is made of impact-resistant glass, which is fastened to four brackets. Sandblasting on the glass cause a drawing. Such options are perfect for modern interiors.
- Wooden - quite expensive option. You can choose them if the whole apartment is decorated with natural materials. Differences in temperature and humidity in the apartment contribute to the drying or decay of the tree.
- MDF - a good analogue of wooden models. They make them in the form of lattices and boxes. They are presented in different colors, so they fit well into any interior.
- Plastic is an inexpensive but common option. It looks great, but if the battery gets too hot, it can deform and release toxic substances.
When choosing screens for cast iron radiators, it is better to give preference to metal grilles or MDF gratings.
Separately it is possible to allocate a heat-reflecting screen behind a radiator of heating. It is made of foil and penofol. This screen is used to store heat from the radiator. It is better when buying a screen from penofol, it heats up much less.
Price screens for heating radiators
The cost of screens will depend on the complexity of its design and material of manufacture. The most expensive are the variants of forged metal with a variety of decorative ornaments, as well as natural wood.
The cheapest plastic grilles are, but they are not only cheaper, but also less qualitative than analogues. Also inexpensive option is a simple metal screen, which is a regular, thin sheet of iron without ornaments and decorative elements.
