Forced sewage - why is it needed?
The organization of forced sewage is a necessity in case the release from the house is located below the level of the place of connection to the centralized system. In this case, a so-called pressure system is set up, which consists of a storage well, connecting pipes and a forced sewage pump. All waste water from the house flows by gravity into the receiving well, from which, through a pump, they are fed into the common system.
However, inside the house itself, it may be necessary to mount a special pumping unit. Usually such installations are compact enough, and the main device in them is a pump for sewage household. A domestic sewage pump is designed to drain sewage in places where it is not possible to drain them by gravity. It can be apartments in basements, basement floors, saunas, offices, clubs, etc. For example, during the redevelopment of an apartment or house with the use of such installations it is possible to place bathrooms in any places and even in cellars.
It is advisable to use forced or pressure sewerage if:
- the house is located below the urban sewerage system;
- on the way of laying the pipe system there are large differences in the relief;
- there is a need to lay pipes in a closed way, for example, across the road;
- there is a need to use pipes with a small diameter.
In other words, forced sewage is formed under the condition that it is not possible to drain the sewage by gravity, regardless of where this problem area is located: inside the house or outside from the storage well to the place of connection to the centralized system.
Advantages and disadvantages of pressure sewer for private house
The main device in the pressure sewage system is a pump station. It usually contains a device, such as a household waste shredder, consisting of a special rotor that breaks down solid fractions, thereby allowing the use of pipes with a small cross-section. Pumping stations for sewerage are made of high-strength materials, so they have an extended service life. It is possible to use pipes made of PVC and special polyethylene, which are supplied in coils( if the diameter is less than 90 mm), so the process of installing extended sections is greatly simplified.
Advantages of constructing forced sewerage:
- at a considerable distance of laying pipelines, the consumption for materials is much less;
- smaller volume of excavation, as there is no need to observe a constant angle of inclination of pipes, but it is sufficient to lay the pipeline below the freezing level of the ground;
- relatively short terms of work.
Installation of the pump for forced sewerage
Drainage pumps for sewerage are installed in a receiving well or septic tank. Due to the fact that there is usually a very aggressive environment in the well, the pumps are not immersed in the liquid, but are attached to the top of the container. In this case, the inlet hose drops into the drains. Sometimes pumps are installed on a special float, while immersing only the working part of the device.
To install the pump, it is necessary to attach a corner pipe, which is equipped with a discharge pipe, to the tank bottom and two vertical guides. The submersible sewer pump, as well as the drainage pump, is equipped with special grippers that allow the device to be put on the rails. The pump will drop onto the nozzle and press against it under the action of its own weight. The pump can be lifted at any time with a cable, for example, for inspection and maintenance.
