In the process of using the washing machine with it, anything can happen. If you find any malfunctions in the operation of the device, you have two ways: to seek help from a repairman or to try to repair the malfunction yourself. In the first case, you trust your faithful au pair for a professional in your business, but at the same time part with several thousand rubles. In the second - try to solve the problem with minimal losses for the family budget, but risk inept actions to damage the complex mechanism.
Which way to go, choose only you. Those who decided to cope on their own, will help our instructions for dismantling the washing machine and extracting the drum. This information is relevant for household appliances LG, Indesit, Bosch, Ardo, Electrolux, Candy, Zanussi, Whirpool, Hansa and other popular manufacturers.
Required Tools
Before you begin, make sure you have all the tools and materials you need at hand.
You may need:
- a set of screwdrivers, including a cross and standard slot;
- set of stars and hexahedrons;
- screwdriver;
- hammer;
- nippers and pliers;
- set of end head with ratchet;
- hacksaw for metal.
You do not need to use all of the above equipment - the complexity of the work depends on the model of the washing machine. Some units are very easy to disassemble, and in order to remove the drum from the others, you will have to work hard.
For washing machines with different types of loading, the procedure for disconnecting the drum may be significantly different. Consider the sequence of actions for devices with front and vertical loading. Remember that for any model of the washer, the work on removing the drum should begin with the unit disconnected from the electrical network and disconnecting the hose kit and draining the water.
Front loading machine
Remove the tank
- Armed with a screwdriver, remove the upper and lower panels of the washing machine.
- We unscrew the fasteners, which fix the detergent feeder and the control unit.
- Be careful when disconnecting these items.
- Do not forget to take pictures of each stage of the work, then to collect everything in reverse order without errors.
- Now remove from the front panel a rubber cuff that seals the door of the hatch. To do this, loosen the clamp, which is fixed by a small metal spring or plastic clamp.
- Remove the front panel from the seal, remove it. To do this, unscrew the bolts at the top and bottom of the machine.
- Now we take the front panel with both hands and detach it, pulling it forward and upwards.
- The next step is to release the drum from the wires that connect it to other elements of the washing machine. We disconnect wires of a heater, the pump, valves, and also various branch pipes.
- Remove the loosened wires aside and carefully secure so that they are not confused and do not interfere.
- To make it easier to pull out the tank, remove the counterweights. They are in the upper and lower parts.
- Then comes the turn of shock absorbers and springs holding the tank. We shoot them one at a time.
- Finally, carefully pull out the tank and detach the engine from it.
Visually, the process of removing the tank, see the next video.
Extract the drum
Most of the work is behind, and we can only remove the drum from the tank. Our further actions depend on the variety of the tank. It can be dismountable or not folded.
If the tank is a folding , simply unclip the brackets connecting the two halves of the tank.
If the tank is not collapsible , it is necessary to saw it. It is for this that we will need a hacksaw, which we stocked at the beginning of the work. The place of sawing is easy to define - you need to orient yourself on the welded seam. The sawn-off tank can be "resuscitated" by connecting halves with staples or bolts( and it is necessary to treat the joints with a sealant).
Now from the divided in two tanks you need to pull out the drum. First, just remove the front of the tank. Then disconnect the pulley. It is attached to one bolt, which must be unscrewed, and then screwed back. After that, take a hammer and gently beat them on the shaft. After several strokes, the drum is usually able to knock out of the tank.
Vertical loader
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fasteners securing the back panel of the washing machine and remove it.
- Shift the side panel to the side, then remove it.
- Carefully detach the wires, having previously photographed the position of each of them.
- Unscrew the screw that holds the shaft. We close the door of the loading hatch and carefully pull out the tank.
- Then disconnect the two parts of the tank and remove the drum( in the same way as for models with front loading).
In the video below you can clearly see how the drum is being removed( by the example of the washing machine Whirlpool).
How do I remove the bearing from the drum?
Most often we have to remove the drum of the washing machine in order to diagnose and eliminate any malfunction. One of the most common failures is bearing wear. To replace this part you need to disassemble the stylalk and remove the tank.
After removing the tank from the washing machine and dismantling it into two parts, as described in the instructions above, you need to clean the drum. Remove any accumulated dirt and foreign objects. Then knock out the bearing with an improvised tool, trying not to damage the socket. In addition to the bearing, we also remove worn seals - these parts we will also change to new ones. We attach the bearing to the lithium, then put new oil seals and bearings. To fix the bearing we need a hammer or a punch.
Removing the rubber band
In order to remove and replace the rubber sealing sleeve on the loading hatch, it is not necessary to disassemble the washing machine and pull out the drum.
- To begin with, you need to remove the yoke, which fixes the outer part of the cuff. If the clamp is plastic, it is fixed with the help of latches, and if metal - with the help of a spring.
- After removing the first clamp, carefully disconnect the second, inner. The place of fixation is marked with a marker.
- Pull out the cuff - first remove its upper part, then lower it.
- We clean the edge of the tank, on which the cuff was installed, from dirt and treat it with soapy water.
- Putting a new cuff on the edge, moving in a circle. After that, we return to the place both clamps.
