In our century, each apartment, house, and some have a dacha and have access to the Internet. Connecting to the worldwide network has long become the norm and a vital necessity, and now I am writing these lines, sitting at a table in the garden. The main way to connect to the Internet now is the provider's LAN, which is physically connected to our computer or laptop using a network cable - an eight-core twisted pair.
There is often a situation where the computer needs to be moved to another location, and the network cable may not be enough for this move. How can I extend the network cable of the Internet so that it will be enough for a new place?
Cable extension options
Option one - joinder and patch cord
This method is simple and reliable. To increase the length of the cable, we simply buy a patch cord( see the picture) and a twisted-pair connector RJ-45, or jointer. These computer trifles are sold in any store, and there are real pennies - when I bought them recently, the joinder cost 22 rubles and the patch cord for three meters 60 rubles.
By the way, the telephone adapter and the adapter for the twisted pair RJ-45 are externally indistinguishable - so do not mix it up. At phone 7 contacts and at computer 8 - can count just in case.
So, we insert the patch cord network card of the computer, and the other end into the jointer, to which we connect our network cable - everything works.
Option two -
router This extension option is convenient and no less reliable.
For connection in the second way, we need a router, which we connect to the Internet. The router has several sockets connecting the network cable, and thus is a sort of "splitter" of the Internet. With its help, we not only extend the cable, but also be able to connect to the Internet from one channel additional devices. If you choose a Wi-Fi router, you will not need any cables for your computer - I recommend for a laptop that is constantly transferred from place to place.
Option three - a new cable
Simply take a new network cable of the correct length, and connect it. The option is not very convenient, because you need to call the provider's technician to turn the new cable into equipment - you will not go to the attic to look for where your apartment is connected. But the owners of houses this way will do.
Option four - twisting
I must say, that extending the network cable by twisting is far from the best solution of , and it is better to use the methods mentioned above. You simply cut the cable and insert the required length of the segment, isolating the electrical tape of the wire in colors. Any contact person will indicate to you the lack of such a method of connection, and it will be right - short circuits will inevitably arise in the twist and the connection speed may suffer.
