Compost Pit with your own hands

Having a plot of land, whether it's a dacha or a country house, the owner often grows green, flowers, fruit and ornamental trees on his premises. Use of chemical fertilizers for plant growth on the site is undesirable. At the same time, they require regular feeding. The way out is the use of organic fertilizers. The most accessible option, including from the ecological point of view, is the use of compost.

Compost hole is completely self-made for every owner of a piece of land. For its arrangement, according to the example below, you can use materials that are worth a penny. For example, in our case, the compost box is made by hand from pallets for building materials. Pallets are actually a junk material. They can be purchased for symbolic money, or even simply pick up after packing any packaged materials.

Stages of the

1. First you need to choose the place that is most suitable in terms of prevailing winds and distance from living quarters for installing a compost heap.

2. The example drawing shows how to properly make a compost( box) so that it is not only convenient to use and has a presentable appearance, but also easily disassembled after filling.

3. Preparatory work in our case consists of the dismantling of wooden pallets on the components of their boards. As a result of disassembly we obtain an edging board-shalovku.

4. Using a circular machine, cut the resulting board into billets that are about a meter in length, from which the compost pit will be made.

5. In two boards, holes are opened through the jig saw to plant the cross planks. In the photo and video of the attached process, it is easy to see what cut-outs need to be made in the remaining boards, so that the compost pit, made with own hands, would be assembled into a common construction.

6. All boards, except for the boards of the front side, are installed vertically and fastened to the mounting glue, and the front board is installed at an angle to the structure. This is done for ease of disassembly. Such a device composting pit allows you to easily rearrange it to a new location or disassemble, when it is filled with plant remains to the very top.

7. To ensure the stability of the future compost box, when installed in a designated location, the lower boards of the structure must be put on the ground with a level.

Minimum effort and costs

So, with a little effort, from the junk materials you can make a quite decent-looking compost pit( box), which allows to utilize plant waste from the site. Sealed in her plant residues ripen under the influence of moisture and putrefactive bacteria, turning into a high-quality organic fertilizer, suitable for fertilizing all the plants on the site. Having at hand a minimum of tools and materials( in their quality any wooden illiquid can be used), it is possible to make the design, which fits perfectly into the design of the garden plot.

Tools

It is enough to have tools: a circular saw or a hand circular saw( quite enough of a regular wood saw), an electric jigsaw, a chisel, an adhesive gun, a tape measure and a level, a set of clamps and a wooden kiyanku for assembling a compost box. To protect the wood from damage caused by pests and moisture, the boards can be covered with moisture-resistant enamel or varnish with antifungal soaking, and then your product will last for many years.
