In order to suburban life was not only comfortable, but also allowed to save on certain resources, it is necessary to make the most of what nature gives to us. One of the ways of useful savings is the collection of rainwater from the roof, which gives an additional liquid for watering the beds, and also prevents its accumulation in one place.

Principle of operation
The rainwater harvesting system operates on the principle of communicating vessels when a manifold( water collector) is connected to a barrel by a piece of hose.
And after the water level in the barrel reaches the maximum level of filling, rainwater is sent through the drainpipe to the sewer or drainage.
Step-by-step instruction
Step one: Of course, collecting rainwater from the roof should be convenient and affordable. To do this, choose a place on the drainpipe of your house or garage, which will always be provided with free access.
Step two: Using the scribe and leaning on the height of the barrel, decide where the collector will be located in the downpipe. Or vice versa, having the collector design in hand, determine the height of the barrel, and then already with the place on the pipe where it will be located.
Step three: Using a metal hacksaw with small teeth or a grinder, cut off the gutter segment to be installed in the free space of the header. As you may have noticed, it is not at all difficult to construct a system that would collect rainwater by one's own hands. But that is not all.
Step four: the system for collecting rainwater for irrigation is not over yet, but there is very little left and now it is possible to install a collector.
The upper part of it is attached to the section of the upper part of the drainpipe, and the lower part to the lower cut. As a result, the two halves of the collector are combined into a single structure.
Step Five: Using a small piece of garden hose, connect the barrel to the manifold. Before doing this in the barrel, make the appropriate cutout.
Tip: install a stainless steel filter inside the drainpipe to clean the water of small leaves and other debris.
With such a system, rainwater harvesting at a dacha or in a country house will be a simple task.
On the photos and videos presented on the site, you can see more clearly what the assembled installation looks like.
