It just so happens that you live in an old house built a hundred or more years ago, but at the same time, not being the owner of business and capital, honestly live for one salary, which means that you can only dream of repairing your dilapidated housing. Repair you just can not afford, you decided.
Well, maybe this is so. But is it worth it once or twice or three years to go to the market to buy new wallpapers or change curtains, thinking that this can change anything in the design of your own housing? Or fill it with furniture bought on occasion? Is it not easier to abandon fruitless attempts to "be no worse than others" and "fit", and do a small cosmetic repair, having issued your apartment in the so-popular in all western Europe style of classical minimalism ?
Rules for repairing apartments in old houses
Step one - WALL
You will just have to fill in all the cracks and irregularities in them, pasting the most inexpensive wallpaper for subsequent painting. You can paint them both in white and light pastel colors, remembering that there are no laws and rules, and you choose a color solely for your personal taste.
Step two - POL
Of course, it would be nice to cover the floors with laminate, but the old houses are remarkable because their floors are covered with beautiful, just a little parquet that has lost its appearance. In most cases, it will be enough just to update it a little, removing layers of varnish and hardened mastic so that the floor looks like new. After that, re-cover it with lacquer, remembering that modern varnishes will serve you for decades.
Step Three - DOORS AND DOORS
Everything is simple - without changing anything in them, it is enough to paint the doors and windows in white so that they shine like new ones. It would be nice to change the pens, but only on the condition that you pick them up according to the age of your apartment. Let them be inexpensive, but necessarily stylized in the old days. Remember that the more massive are the door and window handles and latches, the more naturally they will look in the overall design of your apartment.
Step four - FURNITURE
Here only one piece of advice is possible - get rid of everything you need. And all that you decide to leave, or cover with varnish, pre-painted to the color of the floors, or covered with putty, paint under the color of your walls. Upholstered furniture will be a good idea to reinvent, although it will be enough and covers of inexpensive fabrics, which you yourself will sew for it.
Step Five - WINDOW CURTAINS
For this project only white curtains made of natural fabrics are offered. But if you think that they should be of some other colors, then nobody prevents you from experimenting, because you make an apartment in the first place such that it was cozy for you.
Step Six - Elements of Design
And they, as you saw, considering the photos we presented, can be any - from paintings, to blankets, vases and flower wreaths. The only thing we can advise is not to overdo it with embellishment. Remember that we create a design in the minimalist style , and if so, then any excesses will only prevent us.
