2 simple schemes for connecting a light switch with a backlight

LED or neon indication helps at night to quickly determine where the light key is located. If you have a standard switch installed in the room, and you wanted to convert it to a backlit model, below, we'll provide a few simple examples. Immediately draw your attention to the important point - for a lamp with incandescent lamps, you can use an electrical circuit with LEDs, but if the same LED chandelier, you need to use a simpler version - on a neon lamp. So, to your attention simple circuitry of connection of the switch with illumination.

The scheme of connecting the backlight to the network

As you can see, in this connection variant, when the key breaks the main lighting circuit, the current flows through the resistor to the neon light that lights up. The resistor is needed in order to lower the voltage to a value at which the display will normally shine, but the lamp itself will not turn on. This moment is very important, becauseeven when the light is off, as you can see, the neon lamp closes the circuit. When the key is switched to the on position, the current will flow through the main circuit, as, as we remember from the school books on physics, the electric current always passes through a circuit with a lower resistance( the resistor in this case is an interference to switch onlighting).

This scheme of connecting a single-key switch with backlighting is the easiest and it can even be used by a novice in an electrician. In the two-key models everything is the same, just instead of one lamp there will be 2, for each key, as shown in the diagram below:

If you want to make an LED indication, a more complicated version of the connection is given below. We also recommend watching a video lesson on how to connect the light switch:

LEDs The connection diagram for the LED to a single switch is as follows:

Resistance of the resistor R1 must be at least 100 kΩ.The LED must be protected against voltage breakdown with a diode. As we already said above - this option is not suitable if the chandelier is equipped with LED lamps. The reason is that the resistance in the chandelier is too large and as a result the lamp will constantly flash. Find out why the energy-saving lamp in the chandelier flashes, you can in the relevant article.

Here we have provided ways to connect the display. Determine which circuitry of connecting the switch with backlighting is more suitable for you and already on the basis of this go on to remaking the product! We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with how to connect a motion sensor for lighting!
