Basic
To make the information more accessible, we will immediately provide a list of electrical protective equipment used in installations up to 1 kV and will tell you what each device is used for. So, the main set include:
- Rubber dielectric gloves. Protect your hands from electric shock. An important requirement is to check the tightness of the gloves before use.
- Insulating rods. They are used to install and remove fuses, as well as to mount a portable grounding in electrical installations( EC) and to release the victim in case of electric shock.
- Voltage indicators. Used to determine if there is voltage on the live parts or not.
- Hand tools with handles covered with plastic sheath. It is used directly for connection and repair of electrical installations, voltage up to 380 Volts. We told what kind of tools the electrician should have in the corresponding article.
- Insulating pliers. With their help install tubular fuses, and also remove insulating covers, shields of fencing, etc.
- Electrical clamps allow you to measure current, voltage and resistance in the circuit. We talked about how to use current clamps in the corresponding article.
We draw your attention to the fact that these devices are designed for use in closed installations and in open installations if the weather is dry. To work in wet weather, you need to use specially designed tools for this.
These are all the basic electrical protection means used in electrical installations with voltages up to 1000 V.As you can see, the list of primary devices is small. Now consider what is included in the set of additional security features.
Additional
When working in electrical installations up to 1 kV, it is sufficient to use at least one additional safety device. The list includes the following names:
- Dielectric boots, galoshes and bots. The first two means can be used only when working in electrical installations up to 1000 Volts, in bots it is allowed to work at any voltage. These electro-protective means are needed in order to isolate the worker from the base on which he stands.
- Dielectric mats and tracks. The assignment is similar to the previous version, it can be used in closed EC of any voltage.
- Insulation stands. Prevent a person from direct contact with the sex. At voltages less than 1 kV, it is allowed to use electric protection stands without porcelain insulators.
- Insulating hoods, covers and lining. Protect the person from electric shock and prevent the occurrence of short circuit. An example of use is shown on the picture:
- Booms for leveling and carrying capacity. They are used, respectively, to transfer the potential of the overhead line to the workplace of the electrician, and also to equalize the potential between the individual screening kit and large-scale devices, in which the value of the potential is not constant.
- Dielectric ladders and ladders. Allow to protect a person from electric shock when working in electrical installations. The stairs are made of fiberglass, which isolates the worker from the base on which the staircase itself stands.
