Profiled floor panel - pros and cons
What is a walled profiled material? It is covered with zinc or various polymers shaped metal sheets. Their form is very diverse, and the coloring depends on the dyes used in the production of protective materials.
The small weight of the sheets allows to significantly reduce the load on the bearing structures of the building, as well as its foundation. Thanks to the use of corrugated board, the cost of construction is significantly reduced, and there is no need to attract heavy equipment.
The facade made of corrugated board has a number of advantages:
- No waste during installation.
- The relatively low price of the material contributes to significant cost savings.
- If necessary, it can be easily dismantled.
- The light weight makes it possible to use lighter structures for the frame.
- The material is highly durable, which significantly increases the operational safety of buildings.
- Easy to assemble and process. For this, the simplest hand tool is used.
Like any other building material, profiled facade also has its drawbacks:
- Monotony of appearance, which can not hide even a wide range of colors of the polymer coating.
- Galvanized sheets are characterized by poor resistance to moisture, aggressive chemicals and sudden temperature changes.
- To increase the insulation characteristics of the coating, simultaneous use of various heat and sound insulating materials is required.
Profiled facade - how not to spoil the material when cutting?
Despite the fact that the corrugated sheet is an ordinary sheet of corrugated metal, cutting it slightly differs from the usual one. Since its surface is covered with a protective layer of polymer, the use of thermal treatment methods is contraindicated.
You need to be careful not to damage this layer. Therefore, cold work methods are more suitable for working with corrugated board. Basically, for cutting sheets, use an ordinary hacksaw for metal. A lot of effort will not be required, because the material is notable for its compliance.
You can use an electric jig saw for a figured sample, which is much faster and more convenient. To significantly accelerate the work will help manual or electric roof scissors. The use of a Bulgarian for cutting profiled sheeting is allowed only with the use of special abrasive wheels. They are somewhat thinner than usual and are made of hard alloy, and their edges are provided with small teeth.
Sheathing with profiled balcony and gable
Before installing the sheets on the pediment, a waterproofing layer is laid on the surface, which will provide the necessary level of ventilation, and also help prevent the formation of condensation. Next on top is applied a heater. Then proceed to the installation of the billet, which is made of bars, section 5x5 cm. Now everything is ready for installation of corrugated board.
Sheet fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws, which are screwed into the wave deflection of the profile. To do this, use an electric drill equipped with a ratchet clutch. Between themselves, the wall sheets are joined by screws or rivets.
A similar way is done and sheathing with a profiled balcony from the outside. First, fix the wooden slats to the balcony frame. To do this, holes with a diameter of 3.5 mm are made through the metal drill. They must be located on the same line, the distance between them must be kept within 1 m.
Next, a carrier rail( section 4х2 cm) is installed, its length should be equal to the length of your balcony. In order to raise the corrugated board on the balcony, use a special wooden frame to which the rope is attached. It is desirable to attract an assistant to this work.
The profiled sheet is mounted in one direction: from angle to corner. Between the outer sheets and the wall it is necessary to leave a gap of about five millimeters, where a metal corner for fixing the side fragments will be installed.
