The thickness of the parquet board - what is its significance in the operation of the coating?

Parquet board:

characteristics Parquet board can be of two types: multi-layer and solid board made from high-quality, elite wood( without glue). If we talk about the massive, then in its design it resembles a classic parquet, only a larger width and size. It is considered the most durable floor covering. The multilayer usually consists of three layers.

The bottom layer is made homogeneous( from coniferous wood species). Its thickness should be about 1.5 mm. The second layer is laid in the form of softwood rods( spruce, pine) perpendicular to the lower one. Its value is 8-9 mm. This arrangement of medium fibers is necessary in order to increase mechanical reliability, as well as resistance to changes in the indoor climate( humidity, temperature).

The top layer is made of noble tree species. Its thickness is from 0.5 to 6 mm. The larger this value, the more it can be grinded. Used for this layer can be completely different types of trees( depending on the purpose of the room). From above on any parquet put an oil compound or a varnish. This also affects the hardness of the parquet board.

This material is produced according to certain standards. Parquet board, the dimensions of which are 180-250 cm( length) and 1,4-2,2 cm( in thickness) , manufactured in accordance with GOST.In this case, the width of the parquet board should be about 14-20 cm .

Parquet board: advantages and disadvantages

Compare a massive parquet board with a multi-layer. The advantages of a multi-layered parquet board include: its resistance to humidity, as well as temperature changes. It is more resistant to the effects of aggressive substances( although it also needs to be neat).

The parquet board is laid quite simply. There is no need for the services of special workers. You can carry out the flooring yourself. And, of course, one of the main and main advantages is the ecological cleanness and "warmth" of the coating. On this floor it will be nice and comfortable to walk.

The disadvantages of the parquet board are its lower wear resistance compared to the massive board. Especially if the top layer is quite thin. In these cases it is difficult to repair the parquet. The larger the upper layer( from 10 mm), the more often( up to 2-4 times) it can be ground. The service life of a parquet board under such conditions can reach 12-15 years.

Types of parquet board

The most common criterion for dividing into species is the number of dies. That is, there can be one-, two- and three-way .The first consists of one die. It is produced both monophonic and with a distinctive wood pattern. The two-lane has 2 dies, which are produced in a shortened and elongated form. Shortened fit for medium and small rooms, elongated for large.

Three-way, respectively, consists of 3 dice, which are scattered. The colors of these plates can be completely different - from imitating dark to light wood species. If the question arises - which parquet board is better? Everything depends on personal and design preferences. This is an exclusive design issue.

According to the basic standards of GOST 862.3-86, depending on the design of the substrate, this material is divided into: PD-3, PD-2, PD-1. PD-3 is made on a two-ply base, where the layers are connected perpendicular to each other. PD-2 - on a single-layer basis. PD-1 is made on the same base, which is assembled from squares that are perpendicular to each other.
