The plasterboard partition with the door is an excellent solution for dividing the space in the studio apartments that are so popular these days.
Installation of such a partition is due to a number of reasons: there is no need for permits for the construction of a drywall, installation is not accompanied by dilution of the solution, you can do the work yourself.
Partition is more often used to separate a sleeping place, it is also possible to install additional shelves or grooves.
In addition, the partition of gypsum board can have a curved shape and become a "highlight" of the interior.

Preparatory work
As usual, the works on the installation of the plasterboard partition with their own hands begin with the preparation, which consists in the following:
- First determined with the location of the future wall;
- The future location should be clean and dry;
- The marking is done with a cord and a plumb line. On the floor and ceiling are drawn guides for fastening.
Features of the implementation of marking is that the floor profile should not fit the full length. This is done from the wall to the place where the doorway will be located.
If the door is planned to be located somewhere in the center, then the profile is laid out of two segments, if next to the wall, then, respectively, one segment is enough.
The distance left for the doorway should be 1-2 cm larger than the door itself. This is necessary for the installation of the door frame. An example can be seen in the photo.
When counting, the thickness of the door is taken into account, as well as the thickness of the planned wall. The partition is covered with plasterboard in one or two layers.
2.5 cm thick is added to the overall thickness of the structure if it is clad in one layer and approximately 5 cm if it is done in two layers.
Wall mounting is carried out by the following tools:
- level;
- ruler;
- measuring tape;
- cord, plumb line or laser level;
- corner;
- pencil;
- drill and self-tapping screws;
- spatula;
- tool for cutting metal( knife, scissors);
- trowel;
- containers for glue and plaster.
Which material should I choose?
There are several types of drywall, so before you install the inner wall with your own hands, you need to choose the right material:
- Plasterboard - has two colors: gray and blue. It is used most often, it is suitable for rooms with humidity up to 70%.See photo;
- Moisture-proof - used in rooms with high humidity, that is more than 70%.More often has a green or blue color;
- Refractory - is more often used in the kitchen, where there is a great possibility of contact with fire. The structure includes reinforcing glass, fiberglass and other special additives. There are red and gray colors;
- Waterproof with a high level of fire resistance - gypsum plasterboard of red color, used in rare cases in rooms with complex technical conditions.
The photo shows variants of drywall.
When creating an interior wall of gypsum board with your own hands, it is always necessary to take into account its thickness.
Thickness of 12.5 mm is suitable for creating partition walls or wall cladding, a thinner material can be used to mount the ceiling.
Material thickness of 6.5 mm is used to create arches, as it acquires flexibility, if pre-moisten it.
Mounting of the plasterboard partitions
The installation of the wall begins with the installation of the profile on the floor. It is cut off of the required length, in the place where it is planned to put the door, the profile bends at an angle of 90 degrees( height 15-20 cm).
To make such an angle, cuts are made on the profile sidewalls.
This material is fixed using dowels and screws, but the step should not be too small, but not too large, 50-60 cm will be enough.
The profile is fixed to the ceiling in the same way, except that there is no need to leave a gap for the doorway.

You can place a vibration isolation tape under the profiles, but this item is optional.
The height of the vertical profiles should correspond to the distance from the floor to the ceiling, minus 5 mm. They are also fastened to self-tapping screws and dowels, suitable for fastening metal.
Self-tapping screws need a length of 13-19 mm. Vertical profiles are set in 50 cm steps across the entire width of the structure, as in the video. The step size depends on the manufacturer.
If the manufacturer firm is unknown, it is better to hedge and take a smaller step - 40 cm. With manufacturer's guarantees, the step can be left 50-60 cm.
The installation of the door into the gypsum board is created as follows: the profile is cut along the width of the prospective door with an allowance of 10cm on each side.
The allowances are cut and bent at a right angle, thereby forming the letter "P".The resulting "upside down" structure is attached to the place where the horizontal crossbar is located.
When forming a doorway, vertical racks must be reinforced. Do it yourself with the help of wooden bars with a section for your profile.
To avoid vibrations of the partition when closing the door, it is necessary to make a reinforcement with two vertical struts above the opening.
They are small, equal to the distance from the horizontal bar to the ceiling, as in the photo.
If desired, you can strengthen the entire structure. To do this, the vertical posts are attached to each other with their backs, and inside the wooden beams are inserted. Everything is attached to self-tapping screws.
Wooden elements are better treated with an antiseptic to prolong the "life" of the entire structure.
A very important point is the pre-installation of all electrical wiring( if necessary).The wires can be laid in the holes of the vertical profiles.
After the completed operations on the installation of the frame of the future wall, go to the laying of sheets of plasterboard.
Fastening and installation of gypsum plasterboard
Beginning of installation with solid sheets of gypsum board, that is easier and more correct to start work from the wall, as shown in the photo.
The height sheet should be 1 cm smaller than the one specified. This is done to ensure that the plasterboard is laid up well, taking into account small misalignments.
Small wedges( 1 cm) are placed under the bottom of this sheet, which can be specially purchased or made by hand.
This is done to keep the plasterboard wall from moisture, which will rise from the floor. The sheet is attached to the profile at the moment when it is pressed tightly to the ceiling.
Fastening characteristics:
- The gap between the screws should not be more than 25 cm;
- From the edge of the sheet to the attachment point, the distance should be 1-1.5 cm;
- Drywall sheets must be joined on one profile;
- The self-tapping screw must be drowned;
- The size of the screws depends on the number of layers of the lining material: with one layer the fastener should be from 2.5 cm, with two - from 4 cm.
Another important point is that the gypsum boards must be installed with offset. The joints of the sheets above the doorway must not coincide with the vertical posts. An example is shown in the photo.
When laying plasterboard with your own hands in two layers, it is better to make joints overlap.
When the installation of drywall on one side is carried out, you can proceed to the facing of the other side. At the same time, a thermal and soundproof layer is laid-mineral wool.
It should be slightly wider than the gap between the profiles in order to eliminate gaps. Next - the installation of sheets of gypsum board using the same technology.
After all the work done, the seams are covered with putty, the heads of the screws are also masked.
Door installation options
The sliding door in the plasterboard partition also has a place to be. The peculiarity of the installation is that the doorway should be smaller in size than the door itself.
At the same time, a floor controller is mounted to the floor, and an overhead rail is installed from above. To the design of the door of the coupe does not protrude on the floor, it is necessary to make grooves.
From the side with which the door of the coupe will be closed, make an additional metal frame. This is necessary to conceal the movement mechanism. This results in a false wall.

It is important to ensure that there are no outlets, switches and wires in the way of such a door.
Another version of the door in gipsokartonnogo wall is the door-accordion, the installation features of which can be viewed on video.
