splitting Advantages, disadvantages and features of the

material The main advantage of the drywall is that its installationand the assembly is fairly simple.

It is important to note the low cost of repair: in addition to the material itself, the wall will require a frame, putty and a metal profile for fixing. The cost of this can be paid to any consumer.

Another advantage of the material - plasticity, which allows you to design any size and shape, and place the wall anywhere in the apartment.

The most popular interior partitions, decorative and false walls of plasterboard - these can be installed in the bedroom or in the living room to differentiate the space in different zones.

Decorative properties of the material are also its undeniable advantage - in addition to giving the original form, such walls are easy to paint or cover with other finishing materials.

Especially for the bathroom and other rooms with high humidity release moisture resistant gypsum board - it is specially treated impregnation, as well as protected from penetration of mold and fungus into its structure.

Thanks to this, it is possible to make walls from this material in any apartment of the apartment.

Among the disadvantages can be noted low resistance to loads.

If you want to make a wall with niches and shelves, then be prepared to place there most often only decor objects or small objects, for example, hygiene products in the bathroom.

You can increase the stability of plasterboard by combining it with other materials - usually wood or metal. But in this case, the erection of walls will be more difficult.

Another disadvantage is that the material can be easily damaged during installation. However, it is easy to avoid, if you do everything correctly and accurately.

Issue drywall in a tiled form, the thickness of the plates depends on the purpose of the material. Slabs for walls are produced with a thickness of 12.5 mm - this is the most dense version of the slabs, they are distinguished by a higher noise insulation.

Plasterboard for walls

The cost of all types of plasterboard is approximately the same.

As you can see, this material is the best suited to make an original design in an apartment.

Photo of different options for plasterboard walls or partitioning will help you choose the appropriate design for your apartment.

Stages of work on creating walls from drywall

There are two options for making a wall from gypsum board. For the erection, you can use an adhesive or wireframe method, but in both cases you will need a metal profile for fixing.

The glue method is the simplest, and consists in the covering of existing walls with sheets of gypsum board. This method can be done, for example, a niche under the TV, or decorative shelves.

If you are interested in erecting partitions for zoning space, noise insulation of a bathroom or a false wall of plasterboard, then the walls will have to be made using a wireframe method.

You can find out the step-by-step instructions on how to build walls from gypsum board with adhesive and wireframe method by watching the video.

If you want to make an artificial wall in the bathroom, then it will be possible to work only in wireframe mode. Before creating a structure, you need to take care of the presence of a ventilation gap on the ceiling.

Frame method

Let's start with the wireframe method for building walls. All the stages of creating and finishing the walls by this method you can follow through the photo, also watch the video before starting the repair and installation of the structure.

The first thing you need is a drawing, as well as the layout of the walls, for which you will need:

  • plumb bob;
  • level;
  • measuring tape.

Identify and mark on the wall where the metal profile will be located.

If you want sound insulation to be carried out, then before installing the profile, a special membrane or soundproof tape should be placed on the wall. How to do it - look at the photo.

Wall Diagram

The profiles for the crate are always fixed vertically, and should be approximately 40-50 cm apart.

The step size must be calculated in such a way that the sheets of plasterboard cross the profile in the middle.

Begin the installation should be from a corner with an indent from it 25 cm. First, fix the upper profile, after it - the lower one, preliminary with a plumb bob, indicating the places of its fixing.

See photos and videos on how to properly install the profile on the wall to create a frame.

Frame for gypsum board

After this, the installation of the hangers is done, on which the structure will be fastened. Their installation is carried out with the help of dowel-nails.

The last step is the installation of the material. Gypsum board is mounted on the supporting structure with the help of self-tapping screws.

It is better to cut the sheets of material at the correct height in advance, after installation it will make it more difficult. Installation must be done carefully, so as not to damage the material.

Do not forget to check the photos at each stage of the work to make everything right. When installing sheets, leave a gap of 2 mm between them, then puttying seams will be easier.

Putty should be after installing and fixing the sheets.

Putty is needed in the fixing points, and it should only be started after you have ascertained that all the fasteners are good to hold and are recessed into the sheet no less than 1 mm.

Putty must be applied to the cleaned surface, otherwise it will not hold. Apply it in two layers.

After the puttying is completed, the surface must be leveled and dried before proceeding to the final finish of the drywall with the coating selected by you.

Assembly of the

Partition A separate frame or partition is also required to create a separate wall or partition.

First of all, you need to measure the room. The profile should be cut according to the length of the construction, making a break if the wall is supposed to be with the door.

To do this, bend the profile at an angle of 15-20 cm and cut it sidewalls.

Mounting the structure is done using dowels and screws with a distance of 60 cm - this will be the basis of your future partition.

Watch the photo and video on how to do it right before you start working.

Installation of the partition

After both profiles are fixed, installation of drywall sheets follows. Plasterboard sheets should be 1 cm smaller than the height of the frame.

At this height, when installing the material, several wedges are placed under it. This small space will protect the material from moisture, which is especially important if the creation of a wall made of drywall occurs in the bathroom.

Place the drywall so that the sheet fits snugly to the ceiling and is level. After correct installation, it can be fixed - the installation is done by screws in accordance with the step of 25 cm.

Putty, as in the first case, can be carried out only when the material is securely fastened and cleaned. Before starting work, glue the seams with a special tape or mesh - then their putty will be easier.

They are processed first of all, and the next day, when the material dries, it should be puttying the rest of the surface of the drywall wall.

If the work is done correctly, you will get a nice partition of the desired shape and size, which perfectly fits into the interior design.

Finishing and design works

The design of a wall made of drywall is the most interesting part of the work. The easiest way is to work with the material supported by a real load-bearing wall.

On it you can make a niche for a TV - this option will look great in the bedroom or living room.

If the wall is quite long, then, in addition to the space under the TV, you can make niches for installing a decorative fireplace, bookshelves and other small design elements of the apartment.

This version of the plasterboard finish will save you the need to buy case furniture for TV and other equipment, the cost of which will be much higher than the creation of the wall, and the design, it is possible, will be much less attractive.

To make the design even more original, a niche for a TV can be done with a backlight, built-in spotlights in the wall, or even surrounded a niche with a special light ribbon.

The thickness of the niche depends on what you are going to place in it - naturally, under the TV, the thickness and stability should be much greater than for decorating or placing books.

Look at the options for creating and designing walls with niches for TV and other appliances and household items in the photo before embarking on finishing your bedroom or living room.

Partitioning into zones

Zoning a room with a plasterboard partition is another great use for this design. You can install such a partition, for example, in the bathroom.

If your bathroom is combined, then with the help of a drywall of plasterboard it is possible to fence the toilet, or make a partition in the middle of the bathroom to separate the shower and the bath from the rest of the room.

Such a partition for the bathroom can be flat on one side, and on the other have niches or shelves where you can place hygiene items and cleaning products.

Do not forget only that choosing a drywall for a bathroom should be waterproof, another for this room will not work.

You can also zoning space in the bedroom, separating, for example, a zone with a desktop and a computer from a bed where there will be a bed and objects for rest, for example, a TV.

Look great in the bedroom walls with built-in lights - they save space and create the necessary atmosphere - working, or, conversely, relaxing.

Separation of space is relevant not only in the bedroom, but in the living room, especially if it is combined with the kitchen.

With the help of a plasterboard wall, you can separate the rest area where there is a TV set, a sofa and other furniture, from the working and kitchen area, or use a partition in the kitchen to separate the working area from the dining room.

You can use such partitions and walls in any room, especially if there are few places and you need to separate the space.

If you have a small apartment, then by zoning the premises you can visually increase its area and make several rooms: take guests in the living room, relax in a small bedroom and work in the work area.

The thickness and height of the partitions can be different and depend on the design of the rooms you chose.

Remember that the thickness of the material increases the sound insulation, so the wall unit with the door assumes a large thickness to create an appearance of the real wall.

Variants of the use of structures mass - see the photo with options for finishing, and be sure to see something suitable for your apartment.
