Bought an interior door without a lock? No problem!

We will tell you how to embed a lock in the interior door with your own hands.

First of all, you need to measure the width of the vertical bar of a new interior door and buy a mortise lock.

You should know that the thickness of the vertical beam of your door should be at least 40 mm, otherwise the lock does not make sense to cut it.

Locks for interior doors are different.

There are locks that go separately from the handles, and there are also handles.

Cut the lock into the interior door yourself - it's easy, the main thing at the same time to be careful and not rush. So, proceed to the sidebar of the castle.

Usually the door handle is located in the middle of the door, so we measure one meter from the floor and mark the place for the door handle.

Then we take the drill, select the drill bit and drill a hole for the lock of the lock at the end of the door.

The diameter of the drill should be equal to the thickness of the lock, and the depth of the drilled hole - the length of the lock.

Then at the end of the door we mark out the parameters of the lock plate of the lock and on this contour we choose using a chisel flat platform.

Using a feather drill, drill a hole where there will be a door handle. Drilling is done carefully and carefully.

On this contour we drill the holes and use the chisel to bring the desired place for the lining to the desired shape.

Install the cover in place and attach it with screws. That's all.

Finally, we check how the door lock is opened and closed, and if necessary, we bend the latch of the lining, or rearrange it.

In a wooden door, the lock can be easily cut into any convenient place, whereas doors made from other materials require a special approach.

How to insert a lock in the interior door with your hands using a router?

The door leaf is fixed with the help of the slipway in the vertical position on the side.

This is necessary so that during the installation of the lock you do not have to constantly support the door.

After that we perform all the above-described stages of the lock of the lock: we make markings for the lock tongue.

The lock is applied to the door leaf, so that the marked line passes through the center of the drilled hole under the tongue and mark with a pencil the upper and lower part of the bar, and also the case of the lock.

Align the walls of the received seat for the lock, check whether the lock passes into it and begin to install the lock and handles in the same way as described above.
