Did you know that the slopes on the windows give the dwelling not only an attractive appearance, but also an element of the overall hygiene of the whole room. They create a certain isolation of the room, both sound and heat. They are made of a variety of materials, and most often - in an industrial way. However, the use of drywall allows you to make and install slopes with your own hands for 3 - 4 hours, even if you do not have professional skills.

It should be noted that only a special, waterproof material is used for work. Any other drywall set does not make sense. Gypsum cardboard is a building material that is cut perfectly, so you need to prepare a well-honed knife in advance( preferably a construction knife).Installation of drywall is carried out in two ways: on the wall directly( gluing), and on the profile, which is mounted on the installation site of slopes.

This method is somewhat more complicated, but with this method of installing slopes you do not have to level the wall, and the slopes themselves will be stacked and docked evenly. Plus, the small distance between the wall and the plasterboard serves as a good air cushion, which keeps the heat in the room. Let's talk about a lighter, first method.

Preparing to install the slopes

slopes-to-window-1 First, carefully remove all dimensions. When preparing sheets of plasterboard for slopes, you should leave a small allowance for size. Ideally, a flat surface in the places of installation can not be achieved, so it is better to cut off the excess. Worse, if later it turns out that somewhere "a little bit" is not enough, and this happens often. Before any work with the surface it must be prepared beforehand, and whatever way the slopes are installed, the plaster layer needs to be removed.

The wall should be well leveled using plaster, mortar, alabaster - at the discretion of the master. After that, you need to treat the surface with insect repellent, fungus, since then there will be no free access to these places. After this, the surface is carefully ground, if necessary, then this operation is carried out twice. Then the installation of the slopes directly begins. The glue should be a little thick - this will ensure fast gluing of the sheets, and reliable adhesion of plasterboard to the surface.

Installation and bonding of drywall sheets

slope-on-window-2 Beginning with the installation of the upper slope - it will be the "guide" for the correct installation of slopes on the sides of the window. After applying the glue on the workpiece of the upper slope, it must be accurately laid on the selected place and pressed. Then it must be fixed in such a horizontal position by spacers that are prepared before the work starts, and only after reliable adhesion the work is continued.

The side panels are installed using the same technology, observing the accuracy. It is necessary to watch, that the joint turned out equal - it will show that the workpieces are installed without any distortion. This is also checked with the help of a plumb or level. Joints between the slopes are sealed with a white sealant or special reinforced tape. Above the edges of the sheets are placed plastic corners, which are sold in any store of building materials.

After the end of the installation part of the work, the "decoration" of the slopes begins. Their surface is covered with a special putty, which must dry well. After this, the second layer is superimposed. There is a so-called finishing putty, which is applied by the last layer. When the whole "design" is finally dried, the surface of the slopes is treated with abrasive material until it becomes smooth. And in the end the slopes are painted with white paint.

To accelerate the drying out of the adhesive, it should not be applied with a continuous layer - it is sufficient to spread the gypsum board blank with wide glue strips. This will not affect the quality of gluing the whole piece. It is necessary to wait for complete drying of the glue, the approximate time is indicated on the package.

And only after this you can continue the work. The final processing of plasterboard sheets is best done on the second day. Detailed process of making slopes can be seen on the video:
