Sooner or later, we will all have to face repair. Some owners prefer to do "cosmetic" repairs once a year, while others are more thoroughly approaching the matter and once every three to four years they are doing major repairs. Whatever it was, you have to choose the materials for the finish.
How to act in a situation where the usual wallpaper on the walls already look too corny? The perfect solution is to paint the walls in your favorite color. Unfortunately, the wall for painting should be distinguished by a perfectly flat surface, and aligning the walls is a difficult and very costly task. The output can be modern textured paints for walls, able to visually smooth out any surface, making them geometrically perfect.
Textured paints are a group of paintwork materials, which contain fillers with particles of about 50 microns. They, in fact, are the transition link between the mixtures for leveling, plaster compositions and ordinary decorative paints. Texture paint tolerates the effects of extreme frosts, sharp temperature fluctuations, ultraviolet light exposure and high humidity level without any problems.
If you draw parallels with conventional paints, the latter are much less durable and incapable, unlike textural compositions, to protect the wall from increased load without changing the original characteristics.
Regardless of what method you apply the dye composition, the surface of the wall will acquire a rough texture, which is explained by the presence of particles in the paint.
These wall paints can easily be applied to new and previously finished surfaces, regardless of the material they are made of. The only significant feature of the base is its maximum strong adhesion to the wall. In other words, the old plaster or wood varnish must firmly hold on to the ground.
The application of paints can be carried out with a layer of up to one centimeter in thickness, whereas for standard paints it is less than half a millimeter. This approach makes it possible not to equalize the substrate in advance, nor does it remove the previously applied coating. Do not be frightened by such a significant thickness of the possible finishing layer: the paint has the ability to pass air, and therefore does not interfere with its natural circulation.
Choose the application tool based on the surface you need. A roller with a special texture, a spatula or an airbrush is all right for work. The only significant disadvantage of textured paints is that they contribute to a visual reduction in the size of the room. Nevertheless, do not consider this nuance essential with the following advantages:
- Visual leveling of the surface without any additional effort;
- The low price, caused by cheap enough industrial raw material;
- Color diversity;
- Excellent alternative to standard wallpaper.
