Where does condensate come from on the balcony?

It would seem that the insulation of the balcony is a simple task. I insulated it with insulating material, and there are no problems. But then the question arises: where does the water come from? It turns out that it arises as a result of illiterate erection. The fact is that when the insulation of the loggia is made from the inside, the enclosing structure falls into the zone with a negative temperature.

In winter, when warm air comes from the apartment in the loggia, it collides with a heater, where there is a cooler. Thus, the vapor begins to condense and becomes liquid-dropping. Over time, the enveloping structure becomes wet. Insulating material also accumulates moisture and loses its thermal insulation properties.

Only some kind of visibility of "warming" is created, in reality it does not. In addition, under such conditions, the fungus and mold can easily appear. So, how to make sure that there are no such situations? As it turned out, you just need to carry out installation according to strictly defined rules and use only high-quality material.

We get rid of the condensate with the help of foam

To avoid condensation, it is necessary to exclude the vapor barrier. For this it is important to choose the material for insulation that would have the lowest possible vapor permeability. It is to these that the foam is included. The thickness of its walls simply does not allow moisture to penetrate inside. And if it gets, then in minimal quantities. Thus, we avoid condensation.

A typical expanded polystyrene with a density of about 25 kg / m3 and an average thickness of 60-80 mm is perfectly suitable for this purpose.

And even material with a thickness of 30 mm already protects against penetration of moisture, but inadequately provides heat protection. Because, still apply a heater 60-80 mm. By the way, it is these parameters that are specified in SNiP.You will find out how the foam is installed below.

Thermal insulation of foam plastic

So, we figured out why this material is the best for insulation. But often there is a question - and how to insulate the balcony with foam plastic? For this it is important to follow a simple technology. If the walls are insulated, the insulation material is applied to a special adhesive. As soon as there is a slight hardening, the polystyrene is additionally fastened to the dowels for reliability, otherwise they are called "fungi".

After this, a reinforced protective layer is created using the same adhesive. It is done this way: first, the base is treated with a sandpaper, then a compound is put in which a glass grating with a cell size of 5 × 5 mm is embedded. Once again, cover the surface with glue. At the final stage, when everything is completely dry, it is possible to produce putty and further decorative finishing with wallpaper, plaster or any other material.

In addition to the walls, the problem arises, how to insulate the loggia with foam, creating a floor covering? Here the technique is also simple. First, the floor is covered with foil. Next, install a wooden crate - mount every half a meter uneven bars measuring 40x40 mm. Then foam is placed in the cells between them. Then again the second layer of the beams is made. It must be perpendicular to the first one. At the final stage, mount a moisture-proof plywood.
