Pergamum and its application areas

Pergamum is a roll soft roofing material that is produced by impregnating the building board with oil bitumen. This material became an alternative to roofing paper and tol-skin, practically displacing them from the market. Soft roofing materials began to be used at the end of the XVII century, then they took paper and impregnated it with hot tar, but after the end of the First World War, the technology of producing bituminous roofing material was mastered.

Pergamin, GOST 2697-83, is used to insulate the insulation from moisture, protect against condensation and fumes of wood materials in contact with reinforced concrete bases. It is used as a packing material for the equipment of heavy industry and especially often when insulating pipes.

It can be used for laying heating mains, steam permeability of pergamina slows rusting of metal pipes, providing evaporation of moisture through micropores of cardboard, when erecting winter baths - for evacuation from a wooden house of evaporation, during construction of outbuildings - to provide additional protection against cold and to prevent condensation onthermal insulation coating.

Pergamum roofing: properties and characteristics of

Advantages can be attributed to its low cost, in production it requires a minimum of costs, hence the low price. In contrast to roofing or tol-leather, which produce carcinogenic tar, the material is more environmentally friendly. Pergamin, whose properties are almost independent of temperature fluctuations, will last long enough.

Among the shortcomings is worth noting its high flammability. It burns perfectly, and is even used to kindle furnaces. Also it is easily torn and has an unpleasant smell.

Pergamin, the technical characteristics of which must meet special standards, must have such properties as waterproofness, water absorption, vapor barrier, tensile strength, flexibility. Its surface should be matte, without irregularities, folds, a large number of greasy spots. The rolled roll of glassine must be dense, with even ends.

Varieties: Pergamum roofing P-350, P-300, P-250

There are the following brands: Pergamum P-250, 300, 350. They differ in the appearance of cardboard, which is impregnated with bitumen, and with its properties:

  • Pergamum P-250:
    • the maximum tensile strength is 15 kgf;
    • , water does not appear on the surface for 10 hours( at p = 0.001 MPa);
  • Pergamum P-300:
    • maximum tensile strength - 22 kgf;
    • , water does not appear on the surface for 20 hours( at p = 0.001 MPa);
  • roofing parchment P-350:
    • maximum tensile strength - more than 22 kgf;
    • water absorption is not more than 20% of the mass;
    • at a temperature of up to +5 ° C, cracks do not appear on the surface.

Pergamum roofing marks P-350 creates a ventilation system in the roof, allowing the insulation to "breathe".Due to the properties of this material, the moisture evaporates outside, but does not accumulate in the insulation, which allows to maintain the integrity of the thermal insulation of the roof.

To protect your roof, wooden structures, the foundation from the adverse effects of moisture, you need to use a glassine, whose characteristics are ideal for this. Despite the appearance of a large number of alternatives on the market, this material still remains popular and in demand.
