The modern gas column is a reliable device that can be used safely for the health of people who are in the same room with the device. This is due to the presence of a special security system, including special sensors that control the operation of equipment.
Types of sensors and their purpose
The gas column protection system includes the following elements.
Flame sensor
This part is also called a combustion sensor. Its main function is to control the presence of a flame. While the burner is operating, inside the sensor, which is a thermocouple, due to heating, the pressure that is transferred to the valve responsible for fuel supply is increased. If the flame disappears, the temperature of the sensor decreases, which results in shutting off the gas supply.
Some columns also have an ionization sensor that reacts to the ions of the flame. It is represented by an ionization electrode located directly inside the flame, and will fire when the flame disappears unexpectedly, turning off the burner.
Traction sensor
It is located at the top of the device connecting the column with the chimney. The main function of this part is to determine adequate ventilation. If this sensor does not function, the column will not turn on and start heating water, which will prevent combustion products from entering the room.
Overheating sensor( thermal relay)
This part is located on the heat exchanger tubes to prevent water heating above the permissible temperature. If this temperature sensor in the gas columns fixes excessively high water temperature, the column will automatically shut off to protect the heat exchanger tubes from damage. Most often, this sensor is designed for temperatures up to + 85 ° C.
Flow sensor
It controls the opening of the hot water tap - if the tap is closed, this sensor will turn off the column.
Low water pressure sensor
The water pressure sensor prevents the equipment from turning on if the water pressure is too low.
Pressure Relief Valve
This part will protect the pipes from rupture if the water pressure in the pipes rises.
In the next video of the channel "Teploservis OVK" you can find even more useful and interesting information about the sensors of gas columns.
And the following video will tell you in detail about what a traction sensor is, what it is needed for and how it works.
Is it possible to install sensors in the gas column additionally?
If the desired sensor is not available in the purchased column, an additional installation is possible. Usually such question concerns the sensor of draft, which can not be in some Chinese columns. The presence of this sensor is very important for the safety of the use of equipment, so it is best when making sure that the selected column is equipped with this part.
If the absence of the sensor is found already at home after the purchase, it can be inserted into the device separately, although this will be additional expenses for the sensor itself and for the installation work.
