Fence performs not only the function of protecting property from penetration of outsiders, but also an aesthetic, decorative function, being an ornament of the land. While earlier used for fencing stones, bricks, wood, modern welded metal mesh allows you to quickly recreate the fence with the necessary height, strength and with individual design.
Advantages of fences from welded mesh
Sectional metal fences made of welded mesh have a low weight, they are durable and resistant to aggressive external influences, the installation of such fences is not laborious, it is done by hand in a short time, besides the mesh is notcreates shadows and is optimal in pricing. When defects appear, it is easy to replace damaged areas.
Types of welded metal mesh for fence
Metal mesh is made by welding a wire of various thicknesses at its points of contact( spot welding). In this case, the cells can be of a very different size and shape - from standard square and rectangular, to an unusual polygonal( rhombus, trapezium and others). On the surface of the mesh to protect it from corrosion, a layer of polymer or other coating is applied. The result is a canvas, which is used for fences.
Varieties of metal mesh for fencing depending on the type of coating:
Welded grid with polymer( polyvinyl chloride) coating, usually such a grid has a green or other color. The polymer is applied to the surface of the wire by immersing it in a solution or applying powder dyes in special cabinets.
Grid welded zinc-coated and not zinced. The manufacturing process can differ in the order of the steps. Either a galvanized wire is already welded, or on the contrary, a wire is produced, which is then galvanized or sent to an uncoated implementation.
Welded grid with zinc coating and polymer coating. This grid is the most durable, but at the same time very expensive. For conventional fence, the use of such a grid is impractical.
The grid is produced and supplied to consumers in the form of panels and coils. Rolls are produced in weight from 50 to 500 kilograms, up to two meters high. The length of the grid in the roll is from 15 to 33 meters.
Assembling the sectional metal fence
Soil preparation
The first step is to study the area, as well as to measure the required length of the future fence.
In places where the fence will pass, it is necessary to level the soil, remove bushes and trees, remove large stones and foreign objects.
Installation of support posts without the use of concrete.
fence Racks before installation in the ground( concrete) must be protected from corrosion. To do this, apply a layer of paint, bitumen on the bottom of the columns or wrap it with a piece of roofing material.
The convenience of installing support racks without the use of concrete is that without using concrete it is possible to install a fence at any, even in the winter, time of year. In addition, the installed fence is not difficult to dismantle if necessary. The method is optimal for the installation of a fence on a heaving ground.
The fence will literally be driven into the ground. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare small in diameter grooves in the soil for supporting poles. All wells should be of the same depth and be located on the same line, so that the fence eventually came out perfectly smooth. The distance between the wells is from 250 to 300 cm.
In the prepared grooves, insert the metal racks and clog them into the ground. The depth of the wells is equal to 1/4 of the length of the support column. However, if the depth of freezing of the ground is too high, then the depth of the pit should be increased.
Note the verticality of the columns to be installed and their height, which should be equal throughout the perimeter of the fence. Use a tape measure, a construction level and pegged strings for easy alignment of the supports.
In the space between the ground and the walls of the pillars, fill up with a fine fraction( a mixture of crushed stone or gravel with sand) and carefully compact it.
Thorough tamping ensures the stability of the posts and the strength of the fence installation.
Installation of pillars with concreting.
. Similarly to the first method, it is necessary to mark out the site for the wells, dig them out, checking the distance between them and the depth.
In the excavated wells we insert the columns and fill them with concrete solution.
For the post to not deviate, for the period of hardening of the concrete solution( two days), it should be strengthened by spacers.
Particular attention should be paid to the poles located in the corners of the site and the areas to which the gate( gate) will be attached. Such racks require a particularly strong attachment, since they carry additional loads.
Foundation for taping monolithic tape
Such a foundation is capable of withstanding significant loads and will provide proper reliability and stability to a future fence.
Before commencing work, mark up and dig a trench. In this trench, we additionally dig holes into poles. We install wooden formwork in a trench. We lay the reinforcement for strength. We install the racks and fill the entire trench with a concrete mix. Pillars for the period of hardening of the solution are strengthened by spacers.
Fastening the metal mesh to the support posts
In order to mount the sectional metal fence to the support posts, you will need: staples with bolts and nuts to secure the mesh to the pole( or clamps instead of staples);clips for connecting dowels, screwdriver, corners, welding machine.
Prepare the fence sections for installation. We lay them next to the posts.
We weld metal corners on the posts. They will serve as a fastener for the fence sections.
In the corners of each section, we drill holes through which we make fastening with screws of sections.
Another way allows you to do without connecting braces, but it will be difficult to dismantle the fence if necessary. For this, we connect the fence sections to the metal corners on the posts and weld them.
If instead of sections a canvas is used, the edges of two rolls should be attached to each other, take out one end wire and join the edges of the canvas, forming a single monolithic. After that, we unfold the grid and fasten it to the posts with staples or clamps.
