Facade tile installation - material characteristic
Facade facing tiles are also called "brick" and are used to protect and decorate the outer layer of masonry. The distance should be at least 5 cm from the ground level. The detailed dimensions can only be determined after accurate measurements of the plinth and the floor level.
Compared with basement material, facade tiles have found wider application, although it requires more finishing work. Therefore, in the acquisition process, we evaluate not only good performance characteristics, but also the appearance that will have to be observed for quite some time on the walls of your house.
Laying facade tiles has several advantages, here are just a few:
- good maintainability;
- increased impact resistance;
- high resistance to any external stimuli;
- frost resistance is more than 25 cycles;
- color variety;
- possibility of reuse.
At the same time there are also negative aspects:
- it is necessary to level the walls before installation;
- an impressive price;
- the adhesive is physically worn;
- requires mesh reinforcement;
- effort.
Finishing facades with tiles - the nuances of the work
A person who has practical skills and is versed in construction can easily perform such a finish. Before installation it is important to conduct all cosmetic operations that were planned early.
Manufacture of slabs is made of artificial stone, so the elements can not be strongly wet before laying, because this can affect the change in the color palette. This same circumstance will help to understand how to make a facade tile of the color you need, if suddenly the purchased version does not fit in the depth of tone. Do not work with the material, if the humidity is increased or it rains outside.
To level the walls, the surface is plastered. When creating a plaster layer more than 2 cm, it is important not to forget about the reinforcing mesh.
Before installing façade tiles, you need to stock up on all the necessary tools that you need when laying. So, you need: a tile cutter, a glass cutter, a pencil and a piece of chalk, wooden long bars, a tape measure, a rubber and notched trowel, a wide knife and a trowel. Apply a level that allows you to lay the finish smoothly. Next, use a plumb-line, tile pliers, grindstone, a basin or a bucket, a hacksaw with a cloth and rubber gloves.
Laying of facade tiles - stages of mounting
All technology of laying facade tiles is based on a mechanical method. Mounting is carried out on any surface, so the installation is greatly simplified. Installation must begin with the installation of the crate( galvanized profile or edging board), the frame of which will be fixed vertically to the ground, and the internal elements - parallel to it.
Depending on the surface with which you will work, the fastening of the crate is selected. If the facade is made of bricks, the dowel-nails fit up to 1.4 cm. If the house was built using the technology of fixed formwork, then a frame anchor is used up to 1.52 cm. The wooden crate, before the finishing facade tile is put, is treated with antiseptic composition.
With the help of the hydraulic level, a horizontal mark is created along the circle of the facade, which allows the tiles to be attached by screws. Its installation should be done from the bottom up, starting from the corner. Fastening of the first tile is made on 4 self-tapping screws, and all others - on two. If the tile has mortgages, the second row of tiles should go to the first row of mortgages, and then fasten the dowel-nails. If you want to locate a tile between the tile and the facade, then the installation is carried out through a layer of insulation, using longer nails.
There is another way of fixing: if the tile does not provide a special design for mechanical fixation, it is simply glued. A special feature of the process is the significant weight of the tile, so the adhesive layer should be about 0.5 cm. Before installation, moisten the wall and the surface of the tile, and then apply the glue, and then level it over the entire surface with a special trowel with denticles. It remains only to put the tile to the wall, properly press it until the glue appears on the sides and proceed to the next assembly.
