How to clean the wall from oil paint
Oil paint is especially difficult to clean from surfaces that have not been plastered. There are few ways to remove this paint: something new, harmless and fast has not been invented yet.
All methods of removing oil paint are divided into:
- mechanical;
- chemical;
- thermal.
Mechanical method
The most time-consuming and time-consuming method is to cut the walls with an ax. This method is very good, if later it is planned to tile the walls with tiles. Nonsmooth surface - the most ideal for the adhesion of tiles with the wall surface.
An incision is made with an ax, the wall is wetted with water. After a few minutes the water will be absorbed and it is possible to clean the paint with an ax. Or maybe it will work well with a spatula.

Another method is to attach a chain to a drill. It is a good way to remove old paint from concrete, metal and wood surfaces. Using this method, you need to protect yourself from mechanical damage.
Chemical method
This is the fastest method, but also the most harmful to health. In addition, it is expensive.
The chemical solution is applied to the old paint with a brush or roller. After a while, the paint softens and it can be removed with a spatula or a brush.
When working with chemicals, you need to open the window and protect yourself with rubber gloves, goggles and a respirator.
The old paint is also cleaned with a mixture of lime and potassium carbonate. It is necessary to mix 1.2 kg in water. Unexplored lime from 400 g. Potassium carbonate( soda ash) to a thick consistency. The mixture is applied to the surface and aged for 12 hours. After that, the paint is easily cleaned.
The next option is liquid glass. The surface is greased and the time for complete drying is given. The silicate film will begin to peel easily together with the paint. Repeat the procedure if necessary.
Thermal method
The use of a construction hair dryer to remove old paint is a long-known method.
The painted surface is heated with a hairdryer and the softened paint is peeled off with a spatula.
This method can not be used where the wiring passes. Also, if there is a coating that melts from a high temperature( plastic), you can not use a hairdryer.
This method is very convenient wherever vibration( glazed doors) is unacceptable.
