How to glue wallpaper on whitewash?
How is the pasting of walls by wallpaper is known to many. But the question arises, what if there is whitewashing on the surface? And how to glue wallpaper on whitewash? For this, there is a special technique, which we describe below.
To begin with, check the bottom - flake whitewash or not? If it began to exfoliate, then the only option is to remove it with a scraper, fill the surface and primed with glue. Then give time for everything to dry up and begin the usual application. But, if whitewashing is good and strong, then you can glue the wallpaper to whitewash. For this, the substrate is first primed two or three times and then pasted.
Apply a primer coat with a brush or roller. It is important to choose the right type of primer( better acrylic). Each layer must dry out. This requires about 24-36 hours. Only then you can apply the next layer. After 2-3 layers of primer, the wallpaper is glued to the whitewash. It is important to remember that the drying time of each layer can be significantly reduced. It all depends on the level of humidity and air temperature in the room. If the temperature is high and the humidity is low, the layers will dry out faster.

You can use the method of pasting "butt", but it does not matter. Roll material is cut with a certain margin of 5-10 centimeters. If there is a picture, then in each next strip it is shifted to half the pattern. If there is no drawing, then the task is simplified. Then spread the glue on the material and surface. Cloths are folded in half to ensure that the glue is properly soaked. Especially it is worthwhile to make sure that the edges( place of joints) are well smeared.
After the initial treatment of the cloth, it begins to be treated with glue again. At the beginning of work the room temperature should not be more than +20 C. Also there should be no drafts: the pane should be closed. Put the cloth on the wall from top to bottom. Carefully smooth the hands or rags with applied materials, so that there are no folds and bubbles. Surplus roll material carefully trimmed in the corners and at the baseboards with a sharp knife. Do this procedure strictly until the moment the wallpaper is dry.
