Methods of laying linoleum - with what material will work?
In classic linoleum there are several layers, each of which carries its own functional load. The upper, transparent, has a stronger structure than the rest. The second layer is color-forming. Thanks to modern materials and technologies, the color gamut is preserved for many years.
The third layer is a specially treated polyvinyl chloride( PVC).The fourth, made of fiberglass, bearing - it protects the coating from compression and expansion, because it can also affect the microclimate of the room.
By the presence of the base materials are divided into basic and non-basic. The latter have from one to several layers, are sufficiently durable, but in this parameter are inferior to the first species, and therefore are much cheaper. Linoleum with a base have a much longer service life and are more reliable in operation.
Linoleum laying rules depend on the type of coating
Depending on the manufacturing technology and composition, linoleum is classified into homo- and heterogeneous. Homogeneous - a homogeneous polyvinyl chloride liner with such fillers as dolomite, quartz sand, chalk. The composition of the same heterogeneous material includes several layers, among which glass fiber is very important - it significantly increases the strength of the product.
By appointment, linoleum can be divided into household, commercial and semi-commercial. The names themselves characterize well and do not need additional comments. Naturally, commercial has increased strength, but its price is slightly higher.
A natural coating is a natural coating - environmentally friendly, stable and durable material. But so far, few technologies allow you to depart from the usual use of chemistry in the manufacture of linoleum, especially high-strength.
We are engaged in laying linoleum
Rules for laying linoleum are well known and require strict adherence. And the first requirement is the qualitative preparation of the working surface. It should be perfectly flat, which is often covered under the cover substrate.
Ways of laying linoleum are also very diverse. Depending on the situation, the canvas can be laid without glue or glued over the entire surface.
Professional laying of linoleum without glue on the substrate is made in the case when the latter ideally aligns the floor, and there is a guarantee that the edges of irregularities and swings do not penetrate through the coating. One of the best substrates should be recognized already used in the linoleum, which simply should not be removed. In such cases, even the laminate can be laid on the old linoleum, although it is very sensitive to uneven surfaces.
On how to lay linoleum on the old linoleum, the video material on our portal tells in great detail. And the general order of the work is as follows. For a few hours before laying, the roll must be placed "on the pop" in the room where the work will be done - so it does not ask for its own weight, and its temperature will equalize with the room temperature.
For laying, you will need a sharp knife and two-sided adhesive tape. Roll rolls on the floor along the longest wall of the room. The canvas is cut so that the gap between the edge of the blade and the wall is about 1 cm. The gap is needed as a space where the edge of the linoleum will move when leveling. The larger gap will not be covered by the skirting board.
In order to fully align the canvas, and the waviness formed by the places of kinks in the roll has disappeared, the linoleum on the floor should be left alone for a few days and only after that it is possible to nail the skirting boards.
If the cover is stacked from several pieces, the place of their connection is glued with a double-sided adhesive tape from the bottom of the floor. In order for both pieces to adhere to each other without gaps, there is a very simple reception of the canvas cut. The edges of both pieces are overlapped, and an even cut is made along the entire length with a sharp knife.
