In this lesson we will clearly understand how to make an arch of plasterboard with our own hands. The gypsum board arch is a standard material that is increasingly used for decorating and repairing your apartment. In addition, this construction is in great demand in euro-repair and is being ordered more often. But we will do it ourselves without recourse to hired workers, so let's start.
We will begin to make the arched passageway by determining the height of your doorway, so first measure the height to the ceiling it should be about 2 meters, or better. The fact is that if the height to the ceiling is less than 2 meters, then the design will noticeably hang down and not look very nice.
We will see the rounded out gypsum board in the form of a semicircle, of course we can make it in the form of an ellipse or other intricate figure, but this will be left to your choice or choice. It should be noted that the shape of the semicircle is quite a classic option, which many designers use when designing the arch.

- or other small tool
Phased manufacture of plasterboard
Arch Step 1 - Cut profile.
First determine what height we want to see our arch if you have a ceiling of 2.20, then estimate by eye what size you need an arch, and if you have ceilings 1.80 cm, then especially you should not be scared to choose the dimensions in height, t.k at too high a height of the arch you simply simply will hit about her head, I think about 30 cm for you will be the most prilemy result.
So, take a sheet of plasterboard( as shown in the picture below) and draw a pencil shape on it with the shape of a future arch, as soon as you have drawn the shape and you are ready to cut it around the contour with electric jigsaw( or usual), but remember that for working with electricjigsaw requires skill, otherwise you can simply "take a lishka" and spoil the entire sheet.
When the first half is ready to take it, and draw a pencil around its outline on the other sheet of drywall so we will get 2 completely identical halves, which we will later attach to the metal profile.
Step 2 - Deform the arch
Now we need to bend the arch itself so that it takes the shape we need and deformed. We will deform it under the influence of weight - this is done with the help of two bricks on the sides.
Please note that the frame is easily deformed and takes the desired form for us, the top layer must be cut and moistened with water, and then put on our guides, which we cut out in the previous step.
press Step 3 - We fix the metal profile to the wall
Now after the gypsum board structure is almost ready to start fixing the metal profile, which we will attach directly to the wall, and then we will fix the gypsum board frame on it.
First, we take a sheet of metal profile and scissors on the metal note on it slits. This is done in order to attach the plasterboard to them with the help of self-tapping screws.
Step 4 - We fix the plasterboard to the metal guides
Now let's proceed to fixing the plasterboard. With the help of screws we fix plasterboard to metal guides. If you did not manage to deform our arch in step 2, then there is a simple advice - make an arch of individual pieces of drywall, because they will be easier to deform, and unevenness in the joints, cover with ordinary putty.
Step 5
After we have fastened our frame from 2 sides, it is necessary to do the finishing works that will give an excellent view of our gypsum board arch, and a sample of the finished construction you can see on the slide below. I think it will be useful for you to read how to make a ceiling from plasterboard with your own hands.
