People who are directly involved in excavation work, sooner or later begin to understand the necessity of drying the land. This is especially true during periods of prolonged rain or snow melt. Areas in the lowlands are particularly at risk of flooding and water logging. How to make a drainage ditch in the country without much expense? It's simple, it's enough to make a little effort and ingenuity.
Everything can go to business: boards, stones, reinforced concrete slabs. A simplified version of this design is as follows: at a certain angle, a ditch is digging, at the bottom of which a triangle is laid, and rectangles are stones or boards. Water that enters this ditch will gravitate under the gravity to the drainage well or outside the site.
Another type of drainage "Fascina", which is a construction of twigs wrapped in wire. Bundles are stacked in a row and serve as a support for the edges of the ditch and a filter for sewage.
Preparing for work - selecting the tool
The process of performing the work on the ditch equipment at the dacha includes several stages. The initial preparation of the necessary tools and materials:
- Shovel for digging trenches:
- Level for determining the slope of the system;
- Trolley for soil and crushed stone;
- Rubble, sand( if necessary);
- Drainage pipes.

Having prepared all the necessary tools and materials, you can start working. Make a diagram of the location of drainage pipes in the area and determine the place of collection of drains. It can be a specially dug-up assembly well or just the nearest river or lake. Everything depends on the location of the site relative to these objects.
Next, choose the most suitable for you type of drainage:
- Terrestrial.
- Underground.
Surface drainage is a system of open ditches, over which water drains out of the territory. This is the easiest way to ensure the outflow of water, however it has one significant drawback - open channels do not look very attractive, are forgotten by various debris and prevent free movement around the site.
Designed to drain not only the site itself, but also the foundation of the dacha. At the same time, the communication itself is located underground.
Step-by-step execution of works on the arrangement of drainage is as follows:
- A ditch is digging, the depth of which reaches the point of the foot of the basement;
- At the bottom of the moat, a layer of sand and gravel is filled - 10-15 cm each;
- Geotextiles and another layer of crushed stone are placed above them;
- After all these manipulations, you can start laying pipes with a diameter of 63-110 mm, connecting them together with fittings;
- Pipes are covered with geotextiles, which will prevent plugging holes on the surface with debris or soil.
- Then a bit more rubble, which will strengthen the walls of the ditch and prevent their collapse,
- The rest of the moat space is filled with soil and a small shaft is made, which will subsequently shrink.
All stacked pipes are combined into one structure, the edge of which goes into the collector or catcher well.
Next, you should wait for a shower and if the water leaves quickly and unhindered, then there is nothing to worry about - you did everything right.
