Properties of plastic skirting board
Plastic floor skirting board is a serious competitor for all other varieties of this material. In particular, it has many advantages over a wooden skirting board. - Has high resistance to moisture .This material does not decompose from the action of water and can easily be washed with almost any cleaning agents.
- Flameproof and temperature resistant .In addition, it does not support burning.
- Does not burn out on the sun e and retains its original appearance for a long time.
- Plastic skirting board is much cheaper than wooden .
Types of plastic skirting boards
Depending on the purpose, the skirting board is universal and carpeted. The first is suitable for absolutely any floor surfaces, whether it is linoleum, laminate, tile, wooden floor. The second has the form of an L-section bar. That is, it is a groove that is embedded in the tape of the carpet. Depending on the basis there are : skirting boards made of foamed rigid, rigid and semi-rigid PVC.
The first have the form of extruded profiles and are characterized by low density, are by far the most in demand. The second, made of rigid PVC, look like the previous ones, and are designed for easy and simple cleaning of the premises. Well, and the third is a flexible material or, more simply, a skirting ribbon. They have an elegant design and various colors, they can imitate stone, wood, metal and other surfaces.
Plastic skirting boards: installation
After you have decided on the choice, the main question arises - how to install a plastic skirting board? At the initial stage it is necessary to measure how much material is required. For this it is important to know the perimeter of the room.
For example, the perimeter of the room is 20 m, and one profile has a length of 2.5 m. Accordingly, 20: 2.5 = 8 profiles. This quantity also needs to be bought.
Also pay attention to the cable channel. If you need it( that is, wires will be hidden in it), then choose this type of plinth. At the second stage proceed directly to the installation. They can be installed in three ways : using glue, fasteners and self-tapping screws .
In the first case, the so-called "liquid nails" are used, there are no special difficulties here. To do this, measure the length and glue the material, then apply to the wall. Also, stubs, couplings and corners are fixed.
The second method is considered the best, because then you can easily dismantle the material. To do this, just remove the fasteners. So, about everything in order. To begin with, also measure the length and make a marking at a distance of 30-50 centimeters for the screws with which the skirting will be fixed. From the angles should be no more than 10 centimeters. Then just screw in the screws.
Well, finally, the third method involves installing with self-tapping screws. This is a more rude method, but reliable. In the skirting you need to drill holes for future screws. The distance between them should be about 40-50 centimeters.
Next, put the profile to the wall and make marks on it( exactly in the places where the holes were drilled). Then in these places on the wall you also need to drill holes and insert dowels in them. At the last stage a skirting board is applied, screws are installed in the dowels.
The installation of plastic skirting boards, the video with the installation technology presented on our website, will be successful and smooth, subject to all the above recommendations.
