Why might I need to paint the parquet?

There are situations when painting parquet is absolutely necessary. Sometimes there is a need to transform the floor surface beyond recognition, sometimes it is enough to refresh it only slightly. And then there is a natural question: can I paint the parquet, for example, with colored paint? And in general it is possible to cover parquet floors?

Answering these questions, it should be noted that, first of all, parquet is a wooden floor of improved quality, and in principle its painting is carried out in the same way as for any wooden floor. Deciding how to paint the parquet depends, first of all, on your taste and the general interior of the room. Proceeding from this, you should choose the necessary paint, varnish or stain. The accompanying instruction usually describes in detail the effect achieved.

How can we paint the parquet?

It is possible that when you move into a new apartment, you will find that the natural look of a clean wood parquet texture is not at all in harmony with your idea of interior design. In this case, it is absolutely not necessary to remove the floors and install new ones - just cover the parquet with any opaque enamel you like.

And here it is already necessary to think not of whether it is possible to paint parquet, but about which paint to pick. In principle, any paint is suitable for wooden surfaces, designed for interior work. However, it should be remembered that the enamel must be resistant to abrasion, since the coatings in this regard are under increased load. Good for these purposes, suitable water-based paint, designed specifically for the sexes.

But the surface of the parquet can not only be treated with paint. Change its original color and turn the floor into an exclusive cover is quite possible with the help of special toning tools.

To do this, apply stain, oils and special waxes or colored varnish. Colorless varnish is used as a finishing coat. Depending on the method of application with the help of oil, you can preserve the natural color of the wood, make a tint under valuable woods, cover the surface with a bright color.

If you only need to update the floors, then in this case the stain is irreplaceable. With the help of this impregnation, the natural color of the parquet can be given the desired tone, more clearly identify the pattern.

Restoration of parquet - we update wood

You can cover both new parquet and appropriately prepared old one. New parquet is desirable to paint immediately after it is laid, even before any processing. If the parquet has already been covered with varnish or paint and has been exploited for some time, the task becomes more complicated.

The surface should be thoroughly cleaned from previous coatings, and then aligned and repaired, ie.grind and loop. Before applying the first layer, the parquet is degreased with a special compound. In the instructions for the paintwork, it is usually indicated how and how it is more convenient to apply it.

Most often, a roller is used for this purpose and is attached to a long handle. If the consistency of the paint is not very thick, you can resort to the aid of an atomizer. In the case of the use of water-based paint, it is sufficient to apply two layers, the second applied to the first not earlier than two hours. After drying, the surface is covered with two coats of colorless varnish.
