Gable roof - what is the feature of erection?
The roof of the house in addition to performing engineering and technical functions bears on itself and the architectural and decorative load. It should immediately be noted that the "roof" and "roof" - the concepts are not identical, although often at the household level they are used as synonyms.
According to the definition given in the builder's handbook, the roof is a covering, the roof top element, protecting the structure from environmental influences. We will not confuse these concepts in the future. The roof can be flat or sloping, and in the latter case it is said that it has a "ramp".
This design provides a rapid flow of water, which prevents rotting and breaking, and also significantly reduces snow load. With a sufficiently steep slope of the skates, the space below them easily turns into a residential or office space, called an attic.
As you can see, the gable roof skirt really deserves the closest attention as the best form of home protection against atmospheric influences.
Gable roof - why use it impractical?
However, if we ask ourselves how the useful area of the attic depends on the type of roof and the angle of its slope, and which one is most effective in this respect, we will see that the attic with a gable roof is not the best option.
With a steep slope of 45 degrees the usable area of the attic is only 67% - the lowest figure among all types of structures. But the highest protective characteristics of the building! Therefore, it is necessary to weigh individual preferences with this choice.
And protective functions are achieved, first of all, by the absence of various kinds of obstacles on a flat surface. Such obstacles as, for example, the creases at the intersection of skates, as is the case on the broken roof, and where water so easily falls, or, say, the valleys - the inner corners of the convergence of the faces where snow likes to accumulate so.
And, in addition to technical details, the economic side is equally important - gable roof costs less than another just as much as its area.
Kinds of gable roofs - a variety of structures
The gable polylar roof claims the second place in the useful area of the attic under it - 90%.The reason for this is easy to understand, if we take into account its specific form - a sloping gable roof in a certain place forms a hall and sharply rushes down.
Strictly speaking, here each ramp as it were consists of two elements converging in place of the crease. It is this combination of steep and gentle sides that led to an increase in the area of the attic, because there are no oblique corners in the room. It is also convenient because the construction material is of short length when it is being built.
And one more advantage of broken roofs - built-in windows. Located in almost vertical faces at the height of the second floor, they provide an excellent overview of the surroundings, and the windows in the sloping part guarantee excellent daylight and beautiful views of the night sky in the dark.
And, finally, the record holder, guaranteeing 100% of the usable area - the roof is gabled elevated. The useful area of the attic is maximally increased due to the fact that the Mauerlat is not located on the interfloor, as in the previous two cases, but on an additional wall built about half a floor.
Here, probably, and all the most famous types of gable roofs. Somewhat apart is a two-pitched half-hipped roof, the shape of which allows to withstand high wind loads. This is another nice feature of this class of roofs.
