Choose the design of ceilings from plasterboard

How the suspended ceiling looks after you finish the work is determined not only by the interior of the room, but also by its shape, as well as by the layout. In particular, if you do not make a second level around the perimeter, but take only a part of the ceiling area, having done it in the form of a podium, then whether it casts a shadow or, on the contrary, becomes an additional illuminated space depends on the positioning of the ledge relative to the window.

Superfluous shadows make the room darker, so it's preferable to mount the second level with a vertical plane to the window, or make artificial lighting on it. By the way, it is light that can organically supplement the design of ceilings from plasterboard.

For the design of the suspended ceiling, it is enough to use imagination, plasterboard and profiles provide you with almost unlimited possibilities for the shape, decorate the resulting design will help paint, plaster or wallpaper. After the puttying of the material, any paint falls perfectly on it, in stores you can be offered a huge assortment of decorative plaster under the stone, which can also cover a multi-level ceiling.

But the most beautiful design will be wall-paper, for example, in the form of the sky. On ceilings of plasterboard, polygraphy should be selected qualitative, for example, you can order a portrait of your family in the style of the Renaissance. In the edging of the second-level ledges, such wallpaper will look like ceiling frescoes created by Michelangelo or da Vinci.

Painting the ceiling of gypsum board - how to do it better?

The first advice that we can give you regarding the painting of the plasterboard ceiling is do not pursue cheapness. Let it be a little more expensive, but you will take a high-quality paint material that will lay flat on the suspended ceiling.

The cheap paints often have quite a bad overlapping of the layers, that is, the first layer with the second layer applied on it can give somewhere darker semitones, or more light, as will. Therefore, it is better to immediately choose the products of well-known manufacturers. In addition, durability is also an important factor, and cheap paints quickly fade or even begin to crack, or to wear out during washing.

Painting the ceiling from gypsum board is usually done with lime or water-based paints. However, the first, unlike the second ones, get dirty and well erased, so they can not be washed or even wiped with a dry cloth. If your apartment is well isolated from the street and aired by purely air conditioning systems, with fresh air supplied through filters, it is unlikely that the ceilings will need to be cleaned, and the lime paint is just right. It is sold in plastic buckets, ready, enough to stir and you can start working.

Water-based paint is diluted with water and applied with a roller or spray, if any. It is advisable to paint at a time when the heating is turned off so that it will dry slowly, this will give a qualitative hardening of the layers, which can be done only two if the finishing material is of a quality .And one more small tip - paint better across the room with strips up to 1 meter, so less will be visible traces of the joint of the painted areas.

Figured ceilings from plasterboard - achieving maximum effect

Geometric figures in themselves look primitive for use in decorating rooms, but they are made in volume, they turn into unique and extremely effective decor elements. So, for example, a round or oval "pool" in the middle of the ceiling will create an atmosphere of solemnity in the room, especially if you put a large dining table under this "sunken" area.

In general, multi-level ceiling structures from gypsum board are of only two kinds, not counting the ideal surface - this is the main plane with the protrusions made on it and the ceiling, completely consisting of steps and ledges. And if you do not like respectability in the design, make the ceiling in the form of undulating steps, the room immediately acquires a festive look.

Multilevel ceilings are perfectly combined with stucco, in particular, skirting boards and medallions are widely used.

Create several ledges quite simply, the most primitive option is one single step, in the form of a small podium. To do this, one-way profile connectors are used for a perpendicular transition between levels. Another thing - the creation of convex elements, in such places additional profiles are installed, which are strengthened by suspensions, with or without thrusts.

And already on these intermediate profiles with additional ribs of rigidity different figured ceilings from gypsum cardboard are built. Also strengthened and the place where the chandelier should be suspended, if the point ceilings suddenly appeared insufficient. The main thing is do not overdo it, creating figures and ledges, because too much ceiling with a small quadrature of the room will visually reduce space and "press" on the hosts, that is, on you.
