Requirements for a boiler house in a private house

Boiler house in a private house is a room with heating equipment that provides the work of hot water and heating systems.

The boiler room is necessary in the absence of central heating.

However, the boiler room arrangement can not be called simple, because certain requirements are imposed on the room, which must be observed.

The requirements depend on the boiler type, as well as on its location.

Therefore, first you need to perform the design: the project must contain all the details of the device and the standards required for the room.

    The boiler can be placed in many places:

    • in the attic;
    • in a separate building;
    • in the stand-alone module - a mini boiler room, located in a container;
    • directly in the house;
    • in the extension.

    When planning housing the best option will be the location of the boiler in the attic or in the basement.
    However, if the house is already built, it is better to choose an extension or a separate building.

    A common option is a mini-boiler room in which all equipment is housed in a container. A small size allows you to install it anywhere.

    In the photo you can see such a mini boiler house.

    Mini boiler room

    There are mobile boilers, which are turnkey mini-buildings. The walls are made of sandwich panels with non-combustible materials.

    The boiler-house arrangement depends on the type of boiler being installed, which can be gas, solid fuel and electric.

    Accordingly, the choice of the room depends on the type of heating equipment.

    However, it's not enough to choose the type of heating and choose the right room, you need to make a project. The project should contain a layout of the equipment and display all the standards.

    For the sake of clarity, the boiler room diagram is shown.

    Boiler house layout

    Also the project needs to be coordinated with the special state structures, basically it concerns the gas equipment.

    It is necessary to comply with the general requirements for all types of boiler plants:

    • in a single boiler house is allowed to install no more than two boilers;
    • walls are made of non-flammable material, for example, brick or concrete;
    • the floor should be made of concrete or covered with steel sheet, and tiled with tiles;
    • is prohibited from using any combustible materials;
    • only the fire door is installed;
    • the door of the boiler room and the adjoining room must open outwards;
    • in an annexed building one door should go into the house, and the other door - into the street;
    • to the boiler equipment must be provided unimpeded access;
    • the hood must provide three hours of air exchange per hour;
    • a window must be installed, which should be with a window.

    Standards for different types of boiler

    There are other requirements for the room, depending on the type of boiler installed.

    All this is written in the SNiP and requires the most careful attention and strict adherence to all standards. What are the requirements for each boiler house, we consider below.

    Requirements for gas boiler

    Norms SNiP allow installation of a boiler up to 30 kW not in a separate room, but, for example, in the kitchen.

    The dimensions of the room must comply with the following standards: minimum height - 2.5 m, minimum area - 6 sq. M.m, the minimum volume is 15 cubic meters.

    Video:

    The room size is affected by the boiler's capacity, which is explained by the release of combustion products. A window is mandatory, the size of which also depends on the boiler's capacity.

    The minimum area that a window should have is 0.5 m2.A door with a width of not less than 0,8 m is installed.

    An extract is mandatory. Therefore, at the bottom of the wall or door you need to make holes to ensure airflow.

    For powerful equipment more than 30 kW according to SNIP, a separate room is required, which can be located both in the house and in a separate building.

    If the installation is carried out inside, it is necessary to take into account the following conditions:

    1. there must be a separate exit from the boiler room to the street;
    2. good natural lighting;
    3. quality exhaust;
    4. walls of adjacent rooms should be fire resistant.

    Of course, for powerful equipment, preference should be given to a separate room from the house, for example, a mini boiler room.

    The design of this option is safer, less noisy and saves the living space at home.

    For a separate mini boiler house, you can use a stand-alone unit or build a mini boiler house yourself.

    Placement of the gas boiler

    The following requirements of SNIP are imposed on a separate room:

    • boiler house foundation and the foundation of a private house should not be connected;
    • for a gas boiler requires a separate base;
    • walls and roof are made of non-combustible materials;
    • boiler should be placed on a catwalk 20 cm high;
    • chimney is mounted on a separate foundation.

    An example of a gas boiler is shown in the photo.

    Requirements for solid fuel boiler

    This system does not apply to explosive, therefore the norms of SNiP are not high. You can install the equipment in the basement. The room dimensions are similar to the norms for a gas boiler house.

    On the floor in front of the firebox there should be a steel sheet, and the remaining floor area should be concrete or lined with fire resistant floor covering.

    The window with the size of 0.8 square meters is required.m per 1 kW of boiler power.

    The diameter of the chimney must match the diameter of the nozzle on the boiler.

    Chimney is recommended to plaster or insert an asbestos-cement pipe into it, and also to make a special hole for cleaning in it. The minimum area of the premises is 8 sq.m.

    Extraction is mandatory, the volume is calculated as follows: 8 square meters.cm of exhaust area per 1 kW of boiler power, and if the equipment is located in the basement, then at a rate of 24 square meters.cm per 1 kW.

    An obligatory condition for a solid fuel system according to SNiP is the presence of fire extinguishing means: a fire extinguisher, etc. The fire safety system is presented in the photo.

    Fire safety system

    It should be noted that the same requirements apply to the mini-boiler house of a private house.

    Requirements for an electric boiler

    The safest option is the installation of electrical heating. Separate placement of the boiler house in this case is not required.

    Ventilation is not needed, as the boiler does not emit combustion products. Therefore, separate boiler houses are not needed, an electric boiler can stand anywhere.

    However, there are also disadvantages - dependence on electricity and the need for high power network.

    Installation work

    In general, the installation of equipment is the same for all types of heating systems.

    Therefore, we consider the installation using the example of the most common and at the same time the most complicated in the installation of the gas boiler.

    The heating circuit diagram is shown below.

    Heating circuit

    Gas boilers are of two types: wall and floor.

    Wall-mounted model

    The installation is carried out at an ambient air temperature of +5 to +35 degrees and humidity of air - no more than 80%.

    Installation begins with the finishing of walls, which need to be covered with heat-resistant material, 2 mm thick.

    Since ventilation in the boiler house of a private home is important, the ventilation holes must be made during the initial installation phase.

    To do this, at the bottom of the wall, at an angle of 30 cm from the floor, a hole of 15 cm in diameter is punched with an outlet to the street, and a plastic pipe is inserted. A check valve is installed on the inside of the pipe.

    In the same way, an exhaust port is made. The ventilation scheme is shown in the figure.

    Boiler house ventilation

    Especially, ventilation is needed if the window and door are hermetic.

    Now it is possible to install the equipment directly. First, a bracket for the boiler is attached to the wall, which, as a rule, is included in the kit.

    The minimum height of the boiler is 80 cm from the floor. The bracket must be attached parallel to the floor.

    When doing the work yourself, you can check this with a building level.

    After fixing the boiler, at the highest point of the system you need to install an expansion tank and an air cock.

    To prevent clogging of the heat exchanger, a corner mesh filter must be installed on the water supply pipe. On the filter on both sides, as well as on the branch pipes, it is desirable to install ball valves.

    In the future this will allow changing filters without draining the system. After that you need to make a connection to the chimney.

    Now it is necessary to connect the pipes to the corresponding nozzles of the boiler, after removing the plugs from the manufacturer. The water inlet pipe is connected from above, and the return pipe is from the bottom.

    It is better to connect with gas welding. When installing with your own hands, the slope of the heating pipes is allowed not more than 5 mm per 1 m of the pipe. The diagram of connecting the pipes is presented in the photo.

    The next stage is tying. The boiler needs to be connected to three systems: gas, hydraulic, electric.

    It is better to connect the equipment to the gas pipeline with your own hands, but with the help of a certified specialist.

    Electrical strapping and hydro-tying can be done by hand. The hydrobinding scheme will make it possible to clearly see the connection.

    The piping is carried out under the following conditions:

    1. Hot gases and water in the heat exchanger must move countercurrent, otherwise an explosion may occur. After the end of the hydro-bandage, all connections must be carefully inspected and it is advisable to repeat the inspection a short time later;
    2. If there was antifreeze in the heating system, it must be drained and rinsed several times to avoid an explosion.

    Before installing the boiler, the following must be installed:

    • valve / gas cock;
    • counter;
    • gas alarm;
    • thermostatic valve.

    The electrical system must be equipped with an automatic system that will prevent short circuits and overheating.
    Before the first start-up, the equipment must be filled with water to check the tightness.

    Video:

    But first you need to disconnect the boiler from the mains and open the integrated valve located at the bottom of the boiler.

    Floor standing model

    Floor standing boilers are much more powerful than hinged ones, so they are most often located in a separate room.

    For floor equipment, the floor must be level and firm to evenly load all the legs. It's better if it's a cement screed.

    After installation of the boiler with boiler, the equipment must be brought to the chimney, and then to the house heating system with the installation of a filter that protects against clogging.

    When connecting to the water supply, the side of the water pipe should be placed as close to the entrance of the pipe into the house.

    Video:

    This will ensure uninterrupted water supply and high water pressure in the system. Then the equipment is bundled.

    Thus, it is possible to install the heating equipment in a private house with your own hands, and compliance with all rules and regulations for the boiler room arrangement and installation of equipment will ensure a long and safe operation of the system.
