Preparatory work for
Before proceeding with the installation of grounding, you must contact the building management or the LME and obtain a permit and a key for the electrical board. The electrical shield itself can be either in the entrance of the house or in the basement. For Khrushchev it was characteristic to have a guard on the landing.
What should be on hand?
Any work requires the availability of the necessary materials and tools. For earthing you will need:
- Stranded cable;
- Self-tapping screws, washers;
- Electric drill and drills of various sizes;
- Screwdriver;
- Pliers and pliers.
The procedure for grounding the Khrushchev
Having prepared all the necessary tools and taking the key from the switchboard from the electrician or the residents of the entrance, you can start work. First of all, open the electrical panel and check for grounding. If it is there, then you need to reach it directly from the apartment. To do this, take a thick stranded wire and pull it from the power outlet to a place in the switchboard, where a lot of cables are concentrated.
Further procedure for the electrical panel
- The cable is fixed to the wall, and its end is peeled off approximately 3 cm;
- Wire braiding is divided into two parts, between which is inserted a screw or bolt;
- Then the braided ends of the braid are twisted, thus forming a tight ring corresponding to the diameter of the bolt;
- The resulting ring from the wire is screwed to the body of the shield;
The second part of the work in the apartment
- The cable is peeled off a few centimeters and screwed on the back of the washing machine or other electrical appliance on its metal chassis. Manufacturers of household appliances have foreseen this moment and have designated a place for grounding by a badge in the form of a letter "T", but inverted. In addition, under it there is also a special shading or the inscription Ground( GND);
- If it is necessary to ground the electrical outlet, the cable in this case is connected to the third contact specially provided for this purpose.
Which wire is used to ground the
As we have already seen, this should be a thick multi-strand( for example, 3-wire) yellow-green wire( according to PUE 1.1.29).It is more preferable to take copper wires having good electrical conductivity, flexibility and oxidation resistance.
The cross-section of the wire can be different and depends on the power of the electrical equipment supplied with grounding, but not less than the cross-section of the conductors.
Pay attention also to the cable brand, the choice of which will not only determine the level of fire safety, but also the features of its use in various environments:
- NUM( copper-coated shell of extruded melesin);
- PVA( it is used for connection to electrical appliances, installation is carried out at t up to + 40 ° C);
- VVG consists of copper cores and PVC insulation. Excellent for grounding in hrushes, because it is easy to install and resistant to high humidity environment;
During the work, be sure to adhere to the electrical safety rules to maintain your health and life. Also, it is forbidden to ground by attaching the cable to heating or sewer pipes.
