Basic rules for the construction of beds

The beds should be located from north to south. It is better to build them elevated above the ground level. This allows the soil to warm up better, facilitates processing. For this purpose, boards of the desired shape are made of boards or other material. Dredging the ground level by half a bayonet, fill the ground with soil, humus and other components, depending on the plant species. The frame is made not only from planks. Go bricks, stones, plastic molds. The height of the frame is about half a meter. The bottom is covered with a film and a mesh of metal. It will protect the harvest from mice.

If the beds are raised above the ground and decorated with bumps, the path in the garden among the beds can be made of any material. On it, you can even plant lawn grass. This does not affect the cultivation of crops, because they will be at an altitude, which means that the seeds of grass will not fall to them in the ground and do not clog up the planting. The photo shows various ideas on the design of the paths between such beds.

Ideas for the design of tracks

If the plants are above the ground level and are fenced off with bumps, then problems than laying stationary tracks in the cottage between the beds will not arise. It is better to remove a layer of chernozem and fill the space with loose material:

  • rubble;
  • stone crumb;
  • with crushed brick.

If it turns out to be concreted, then the garden will become even more convenient. However, this method will not allow changing the configuration of the beds themselves every year.

If it is necessary to remodel the planting scheme every year, it is better to make the beds themselves from the removable boards, and lay the space between them with rubber, concrete slabs or arrange a collapsible wooden platform. Grate tracks from the racks make it even faster, however, they will last for a couple of years, no more.

The easiest option for temporary paths between beds with their own hands is wood shavings, tree bark. Unlike sawdust, this material does not rot so fast, it absorbs moisture well, allowing the passages to dry out more quickly after rains. The following year, you can simply dig it and get a good fertilizer.

It is often possible to meet people, thinking about what to make tracks between beds, begin to use the remains after construction. Often use sawdust. In this design there are several "minuses": soil acidification, nitrogen uptake, weed and wire propagation, which loves potatoes, and will not refuse from onions.

Other ways of mulching the soil will also lead to unpleasant results. If you spread out the weeded weeds on the tracks, you can provoke their uncontrolled reproduction, because it is impossible to trace the absence of seeds on each blade. In addition, some species of plants can flow and form seeds even when they are torn from the ground. But if you plant ciderates, then you can enrich the soil, and then get a quality mulch. However, they do not form a dense cover and it is inconvenient to walk on them. In addition, such paths between the beds require a large investment of forces, because the siderates must often be mowed to form a sufficient layer.

If you lay an old roofing material, the bitumen impregnation will not allow you to grow an environmentally friendly crop. In addition, he quickly tears. When using cardboard there are many difficulties: drying out, it deforms and flies around the site, soaks fairly quickly.

Gravel, stone crumb will not allow later to dig up the ground and change the shape and location of the beds. Otherwise, the stones will fall into the soil and worsen its quality.

The stationary track also has its own drawback. Of course, the paved passages look great, but not yet polluted. Hence, there is a need for regular care for them. If there is no desire to clean concrete and stone paths, it is better to choose another option.
