In order to avoid the difficulties associated with the design of redevelopment, repairs should be carried out in accordance with all the requirements specified in the regulatory documents.

The threshold in the bathroom is needed, first of all, in order to stop or at least to stop the flow of water and protect the remaining rooms from the flood in the event of a leak. The effect will be stronger if the bottom 15-20 cm of walls in the bathroom provide waterproofing.

Since the threshold is a thorough product, in order to disassemble it, you will need serious tools - a small scrap, a hammer and a hacksaw.

Getting started with the fact that using a hacksaw saws it on the sides and gently breaks the middle part. Try to do this as accurately as possible so as not to damage the door or the opal. Further, with the help of a crowbar and a hammer, we extract what is left of the threshold.

In order to make the threshold in the bathroom smooth and the result of the master's work is left without physical injury, you need to be well equipped.

You will also need the following tools:

• container in which tile glue will be mixed;
• rule;
• building level;
• notched trowel;
• rubber spatula;
• conventional spatula;
• a perforator and a Bulgarian with a nozzle designed for work on porcelain tiles.

Before starting work, prepare all necessary materials. First, take measurements and cut the tiles into pieces of the required size. For finishing the threshold the most suitable ceramic granite is the same color as the floor in the bathroom or in the corridor. Then, following the instructions, knead the tile glue. The consistency of the resulting mass should be uniform, similar to liquid sour cream.

We finish the preliminary work by preparing the substrate: we clean it of dust and dirt, we treat it with primer.

On the prepared concrete foundation it is necessary to form the sills. We will do this with the help of a screed.

Sequence of work:

1. To begin with, it is necessary to make wooden borders, which will serve as limiters for cement mortar, and at the same time create the shape of the future threshold.
2. So that the screed does not stick to the wooden boards, we wrap them with cellophane.
3. Then fill the resulting form with a cement mixture and level with the rule.
4. We adjust the height of the door with the help of the building level.
5. Next, you need to wait until the screed is completely dry. This can take several days, during which the concrete must be periodically moistened with water to prevent the appearance of cracks.
6. After the mixture dries and hardens, remove the plates and clean the sills, trying to make the surface as flat as possible.
7. We will ground the threshold from all sides.

The next stage will be lining the door with tiles from porcelain stoneware:

1. With a notched trowel, apply glue to the tile, apply it to the base and press it for a few seconds.
2. The distance between the tiles is leveled using special plastic crosses. Do not forget to use the building level!
3. After the completion of the laying work, we process the seams by trowelling. It is recommended to use a spatula made of rubber for this purpose, and remove the surplus mixture with a foam sponge.

The strength of the final design is verified by simple tapping - the sound should be the same everywhere. If in certain places the blows sound more sonorous, then you could not avoid the formation of voids and the tile above them can quickly crack.
