The standard steam room shelf consists of two parts: a seat and a support stand made of strong beams. The latter consists of two beams placed along the seat and connected to each other. The boards that are stuffed onto the frame must necessarily be thin, and the distance between them is usually one to two centimeters.
When preparing the shelves, you should give the fasteners of the parts. It is extremely undesirable to use screws or nails, because after touching them, a person can get burned.
Step 1. Determine the dimensions of the
steam room. The bench for the steam room must be at least 1.5 meters. Regarding the size of the shelf, they will all depend on the dimensions of the particular bath. Nevertheless, its upper stage is in any case the largest - about 0.9 meters, all the rest - from 0.4 to 0.6 meters.
The height of the shelves is determined by the following criteria: a person should be comfortable lying both lying down and sitting. It turns out that the distance between the ceiling and the upper stage should be at least 1.2 meters.
Step 2. Select the wood for the sauna
The bath shelf is an extremely important element, because it contacts directly with the human skin. Therefore, the choice of wood for its manufacture should be given due attention. So, consider the options:
1. The lime tree is ideal for our purpose. It is easy to handle, it does not crack and smells rather pleasant. Moreover, the lime tree is known for its healing properties, and it is relatively cheap. The only drawback is that at high temperatures it loses its original color over time.
2. Aspen also has medicinal characteristics. In view of its low cost, as well as the ability to "suck" all negative from a person, it is very popular today. There is also a disadvantage: aspen rot begins from the inside, so it is extremely difficult to distinguish quality wood from poor quality wood.
3. Abashi is a tree originally from sunny Africa, which has a number of useful properties. It is resistant to heat, moisture. In operation, the color of the tree is practically unchanged. The only negative is the cost of Abashi.
Stage 3. We build the frame
We need to start making the shelf with the construction of the wooden frame, for this we will use beams, to which we subsequently attach the boards. We need five racks and, accordingly, ten bars. The bars are attached to each other with the same beams, and to the posts - special screws, two for each piece.
For flooring we will use boards( the gap between them should be at least two centimeters). So, the lower shelves require three boards, and the upper one - seven boards. Their approximate length is about 2.96 meters( this is due to the fact that there should be some gap between them and the walls, after all you will have to trim them with a lining).
Step 4. Join the frame
To connect all the parts used wedges of oak, which must be driven into the pre-made holes. At the same time, many builders avoid such a troublesome procedure( meaning fastening without using nails), resorting instead to traditional self-tapping screws, but with deep drowning.
Step 5. We mount backs
In any case, the lower shelf must be movable - this simplifies the further care for it. In most cases, it is executed in the form of a triangle, which allows you to achieve maximum compactness in the room.
The free space that remains between the levels is usually left open, but you can additionally install backrests there, preferably from needles( it has medicinal properties).
Stage 6. Shelf protection
This is the final stage of our work. If you do not process the tree with chemicals, it will soon become unsuitable due to constant contact with moisture. Rot or mold is formed, it can only be prevented with timely prevention.
Drying oil or varnish is unacceptable for this purpose, as in extreme conditions they emit an unpleasant odor and can lead to allergies. It is better to use natural impregnation, which is freely sold in most stores. It has excellent characteristics and it must be used to cover all surfaces of the bath.
