When buying a counter, you need to pay attention to the technical characteristics of the device. Usually they are indicated on the back side. The maximum current power must not exceed the parameters indicated in the form of symbols( for example, 5-15 A or 10-40 A).According to the approved standards, the apartment is allocated up to 16-25 amperes, and with an equipped electric plate - 40 - 63 amperes. The voltage in the network can be three-phase( 380 Volts) or single-phase( 220 Volts).
It is clear that the connection of the electricity meter in the apartment is made to account for the consumed electricity. Devices can be divided into mechanical and electronic, single- and three-phase. They are connected in a straightforward manner, which is simpler and more common in application. This wiring diagram does not require the installation and use of additional current transformers.

What are the rules for connecting an electricity meter? All modern devices and modular units are installed in protective boxes made of non-combustible plastic. They can be external or built-in. For starters, it is necessary to mount the box into the wall, as it will be equipped with an electric meter.
Firstly , on the rail in the protective box we alternately install:
- automatic switch that serves as an input switch and protects all wiring elements from short circuit,
- in the middle - we place an electric meter,
- the second machine for outputting wires.
Secondly , on the electricity meter, unscrew the filling screw, which is in the lower part of the center of the lid, and remove it.
Under the protective cover are the contacts on the screw terminals. They facilitate a good interaction of the wire with the terminal.
Screw clamps are arranged as follows:
- bottom row( 4 screws): power supply connection, connection of the outgoing phase, for supply zero conductor, outgoing zero cable,
- , the upper row of clamps is used to secure the terminals supplying wires to the points in the apartmentlight switches or sockets).
Thirdly, , before connecting a single-phase and three-phase electricity meter, you need to make sure that there is no electrical voltage entering the apartment.
- The supply wires( zero to the right and the phase to the left) are fed to the circuit breaker. We remove and clean the insulation, and connect it to the machine through the upper contacts.
- For wiring from the circuit breaker to the meter use wires of a certain section. Calculation of the cross section is made taking into account the total power of all electrical equipment in the apartment. Use a hard or soft cable.
- From the supply automaton, connect the phase wire to the lower left counter screw. For this, insert the terminal into a contact and twist the clamp.
- Next, connect the zero wire from the circuit breaker to the third counter contact.
- Connect the cables from the unit as follows: from the second lower counter screw to the outgoing machine;from the fourth terminal to the outgoing single-pole switch.
- Check all screws and contacts. We put the protective cover on the electric meter and tighten the screw for the seal.
After connecting the meter manually, you need to call employees to check and seal the device.
