Silicon enamel: the scope of application and the properties

Due to their operational characteristics, this material became popular in the construction and the economy. It is used for finishing brick, asbestos cement, concrete, wooden, plastic, glass surfaces. It is also applied to plastered walls both inside and outside the premises.

enamel has a high heat resistance and corrosion resistance, and therefore is widely used to protect metallic substrates: boilers, pipes, motors, heaters, kilns, pumps, heat exchangers, mufflers, evaporators walls of ovens, household Teplopribor and other apparatus.

And thanks to the unique protection from high temperature and humidity, the composition is used for painting bridges, various tanks, signaling and medical equipment. Other characteristics of enamel can also be distinguished: frost and UV resistance, fast drying, durability, high adhesion, ease of application.

Silicone enamel:

composition All kinds of organic resins are used to create this material. They form a strong layer, which prevents abrasion of the surface. Plus, there are some additives in the form of acrylic, urea, ethyl cellulose, which create the required hardness of the coating.

To make the composition of a certain color pigments are used. The shades of the mixture can be completely different( yellow, white, cream, pink, blue, etc.).To maintain color for a long time, add hardeners. If we talk about enamel KO-174, then it consists of the same fillers in the organosilicon varnish and pigments.

Application of organosilicon enamel

Depending on the surface to be treated, the preparation methods for the substrate differ. For example, when preparing corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant coatings( metal enamel), it is important not to allow the presence of fat spots, as they reduce adhesion.

In addition, hygroscopic substances can be created under the enamel, as a result of which the protective characteristics of the entire coating will also decrease. Therefore, the surface is previously cleaned with abrasive agents, organic solvents or alkalis.

If facades of buildings( concrete and abssocement surfaces) are removed, then this is done without a preliminary primer and a special silicone-organic enamel KO-174 is used. The base is only cleaned from the old coating, as well as from dust and dirt. In general, it should be smooth and dry( the moisture content of concrete should not be more than 8%).

Then proceed to prepare the mixture. To do this, it is diluted with a special solvent( for example, a solvent or P-5 ).The approximate consumption of the composition per layer is from 60 to 140 g / m2.Apply enamel with a brush or spray. The coating dries an average of one hour at a temperature of 18-22 ° C.For a quality coating 2-3 layers are necessary.

Warning! When using enamel KO-174, you should observe some precautions. This material is explosive, so do not use it near a source of fire.

Also harmful by inhalation. If the mixture gets on the body, wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
