Today the choice of a place for drying clothes is no longer a big problem. Almost every apartment has a spacious loggia, and the height of the walls allows you to place a clothes dryer under the ceiling, without occupying a useful place in the house.

Devices designed for drying clothes, there is also a great variety. In the shops there are variants that can be used comfortably even in the smallest dwelling. Modern driers for laundry are made of plastic, stainless steel and other moisture-resistant materials. Available ceiling, floor, wall and combined models.

The prices for these products depend on the material, functionality and, of course, the manufacturer of the structure. The highest quality dryer for clothes are, as a rule, more expensive.

Original laundry dryer can be made with your own hands from improvised materials. The device created by the handwritten device will be no less reliable and convenient than the finished purchase dryer.

Types

  • Ceiling - traditional laundry dryer in the form of stringed strings or metal tubes stretched under the ceiling, mounted on brackets attached to the ceiling.
  • Floor is a foldable, mobile design that can be installed anywhere in the apartment, and after use folded and removed.
  • Wall-mounted laundry dryer, mounted between two opposite walls;can have a folding or sliding mechanism, so the entire length and width is decomposed only if necessary.
  • Wall-ceiling - combined model, which is mounted on two ceiling brackets and one fixing wall bracket;this design is very functional, as it can be lowered and lifted like a blind - to make it easier to hang out clothes.

Materials

For the production of clothes dryers, metal and plastic are most often used. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of dryers made from the most popular materials.

Plastic dryers are the most budget option. They are lightweight, easy to carry and install. The minus of plastic models is that they are not strong enough, and their lifetime is usually very short.

Stainless steel dryers are the most expensive, but also the most reliable option. Stainless steel is a very strong material, so such a dryer does not deform under the weight of the laundry. Usually, stainless steel structures have a chrome finish, so in the bathroom interior they look just fine.

Aluminum dryers combine the ease of plastic and the strength of stainless steel, but these models are not without flaws. The fact is that aluminum is not the most suitable metal for use in high humidity conditions. Being in constant contact with wet things, it begins to oxidize, as a result of which indelible stains appear on clothes and underwear.

Rope

The drawback of traditional rope dryers is that under the weight of wet clothes the ropes are sagging, which does not look very aesthetic. We suggest you make a more robust analogue rope laundry dryer, capable of withstanding a large weight of "washing".

Materials needed:

  • two pieces of stainless steel pipe 20-30 mm;
  • sawn into 4 equal parts of a wooden block with a thickness of 60-80 mm;
  • metal springs( 4-8 pieces, depending on the width of the future dryer);
  • coil is a strong rope.

Two pairs of wooden bars will serve as brackets for our design. To do this, the center of the bars need to drill holes, equal in diameter to the metal pipe. We fix the bars at both ends of the pipes. Through the entire length of the pipes we drill holes through which the laundry ropes pass. The distance between the holes should be 10-15 cm.

We fasten the wooden bars together with the pipes on opposite walls. Under the pipes, at a distance of about half a meter, we drill holes in the wall, which must be located strictly under the holes in the metal pipes. In the holes we insert self-tapping screws, on which we fasten the metal springs with a rope. The other end of the rope is threaded through the holes in the pipe and drawn to the opposite side. We pass the rope through another metal tube and tie it to the spring. Repeat this operation for all springs.

The lower part of the structure will look very unsightly, so it is recommended to disguise it with decorative panels.

Mobile

Materials:

  • wooden rack or bar to create a frame;
  • several wooden rods;
  • plywood, gypsum board or wooden board for the base;
  • one or two hinges for furniture;
  • simple folding mechanism;
  • handles for furniture or hooks for towels;
  • fastener set;
  • water-based or acrylic paint.

Work progress:

  • For the beginning in the two opposite elements of the frame we drill holes equal in diameter to the wooden rods. We fix the bars inside the frame. It is important that the bars have the same length. To fix them in the holes it was more convenient, it is possible to pile off the rods a little at the ends. Then we assemble the frame, nailing the parts to each other with nails.
  • Now we are preparing the foundation. It should be longer and wider than the frame by 100-150 mm. We attach the lower part of the frame to the base on the furniture loop( if the design turned out to be large, use two loops).
  • Let's start painting. You can paint the entire dryer in one color, and you can use the paint for different shades for the frame, rods and base. We wait for the time necessary to completely dry the paint.
  • On the upper part of the construction we fix the locking lock, and on both sides - a folding mechanism. It is necessary to choose the right angle of deployment of the folding mechanism - so that in the unfolded form the dryer does not interfere with the movement of the bathroom.
  • To the bottom of our new dryer we screw or glue holders for small items of clothing and underwear( these can be hooks or small furniture handles).
  • Drill a hole in the wall and mount the dryer in place.

Heated

Materials:

  • two wooden slats( also suitable for chipboard and MDF);
  • 10 metal pipes( half of them have a diameter larger than the others);
  • 7 pairs of wooden spikes;
  • wooden plugs for pipes;
  • instant adhesive.

Procedure:

  • We measure the battery on which the dryer will be installed. Dimensions of the dryer should be slightly larger than the dimensions of the radiator.
  • On the top edge of each of the slats we drill 5 blind holes intended for thorns.
  • Apply to the front of the panel a marking for the holes( 4 holes should be located at the same distance from each other).Drill holes, alternating between the deaf and through. Repeat these steps for the other panel.
  • We paste wooden spikes into blind holes.
  • After the glue dries to the thorns attach those pipes that have a smaller diameter.
  • Insert the larger diameter pipes into the remaining holes. In this case, some of them should be attached to the spikes, and the other part - freely pass through the through holes.
  • If your battery has a temperature controller, then in one of the strips of the dryer it is necessary to provide a hole for it.

Ceiling

Materials:

  • two wooden slats( approximate dimensions: length 40 cm, width 15 cm, thickness 2 cm);
  • 5 pairs of self-tapping screws in the form of rings;
  • hank of laundry line;
  • varnish for woodworking.

Procedure:

  • First, drill 5 holes through the wooden blocks at the same distance from each other.
  • The holes are cleaned from the sawdust and insert the self-tapping screws in them. Self-tapping screws should sit tight, so, if necessary, reinforce them with plastic clips.
  • Now you need to install the brackets on the ceiling. For this we use a perforator and dowel-nails.
  • We cover the laths with lacquer and wait for the time necessary for complete drying of the composition.
  • Now cut the clothesline into 5 equal parts and stretch the pieces of rope between the screws.

Applied on a bath

For drying small things, such as underwear, socks and tights, you can make a device that, if necessary, can be applied to the bath, and then cleaned in a secluded place.

Materials:

  • two long wooden bars( slightly longer than the bathtub) and a few short( width of the bath):
  • nails;
  • water or acrylic paint.

It is made of wooden blocks to make a structure like a ladder. In this case, short bars should be nailed over long ones - so the device will be more stable. Cover the dryer with paint. After the paint has dried, the overhead dryer dryer is ready for use.
