The drainage device in this situation is an excellent way out, and this article will tell you how to implement this idea, saving not only on materials, but also on time.

Preparing drainage for the

Before installing drainage in the dacha with your own hands, it is necessary to clearly understand what you want to achieve, howyou want to see the result. Therefore, to have a clear picture of the future system before your eyes is very important.

Take measurements of your site and decide at what depth you will lay the drainage( the depth will depend on the height of the drainage "well", as it will be higher than other elements of the structure).

Traditional French drainage is a trench filled with gravel, which is separated from the ground by geotextile( it is needed to ensure that the earth does not mix with gravel, it also passes water well and does not allow the weeds to germinate).Gravel and geotextile allow moisture to soak up quickly in the soil, distributing it throughout the territory where they are located, rather than gathering in one place. When installing such a drainage, corrugated pipes with longitudinal holes on one side, for example, PVC, are often used.

As a drainage "well", which should be located at the end of the system, you can take a 200 liter plastic drum( keg) with holes in the walls and the bottom. It is located on a pillow of gravel with a thickness of 8-10 cm, and around it a wall is also constructed of gravel with a thickness of 15 cm.

In a 200 l drum( top), make holes. They will serve as additional slots for water to enter into it, and one of them will be the place of installation of the second drain grid, about which further. It will be enough to have two or three 5 cm holes. It is also necessary to make one large hole on the wall from above for the pipe( see photo).

Another element is the catchment tank. Its width should be about 30x30cm. It is desirable that it is equipped with a drain grate, especially in the case when the French drainage is provided by a drainpipe. When connecting the pipe to the tank, you ensure the flow of clean water into the system( without silt and other debris that can pass through the grate).

In order to make drainage by hand, you do not need to spend much money. The most expensive thing that you buy, most likely, will be a catchment tank, and the cheapest one is a pipe. As for gravel, it will need about 2 m3( 1-2 cm granules).You will also need geotextiles.

Excavation of the trench

Dig a trench, on both sides of which there will be a "well" and a reservoir. In a place for the first, the pit should be 10-15 cm deeper than in the rest of the trench.

Depth calculated depending on the height of the drainage "well"( after its installation and gravel, between the second and the surface of the earth should not be more than 15 cm).

Preparation of a water drainage well

Use a 2-3 cm drill to turn the walls and bottom of the well into Swiss cheese.

And on the wall from above cut a hole to fit the size of the pipe, and install the base for its mounting.

Filling the trench

Cover the trench with geotagging for drainage.

This will prevent sludge and dirt from entering, and mixing them with gravel. It will also provide better absorption of moisture by the earth.8-10 cm cushion of gravel should be done only in the place where the 200 l drums will be placed.

Install it. Sprinkle a little gravel around. Make sure that the barrel does not move.

The top of the water collector should be placed at the level of the ground surface - just below the asphalt, so if necessary( if you need to raise the tank slightly), you can install it on a thin gravel pillow.

Around him, fill in the gravel, make sure that it is immobilized.

Connect the water drainage well and the water header to the pipe. Remember, the holes in the pipe should look down, and the pipe itself should be under the slope. Fill the trench with gravel, as shown in the photo, until there is 15 cm between the ground and gravel. After installing the drain grid on the barrel.

This drainage in the suburban area is not finished. Wrap geotextiles so that the end on one side lies on the other - lying opposite, overlapping.

Backfilling with earth

Filling the groove with earth is the final stage. Also on this place you can put already sprouted lawn grass.
